Not doing DITHOR but beyond the Emergent Readers??

We weren't planning on doing DITHOR partially for financial reasons however my son is beyond the Emergent Readers. He is just beginning third grade but can read and comprehend on what appears to me to be a 4th grade level. I have either all or most of all the recommended books for the DITHOR reading...

Re: Copy Work Please Help

Copywork is an area we struggle with as my son has vision problems which causes the lines to jump all over the page obviously making it difficult for him to write neatly. Although I try to do as much as possible orally in order to limit the amount of handwriting he has to do, I do feel copywork is i...

Re: Need Some general Home Management Advice

Systems...systems...systems...btw did I say systems?? Seriously, I think the best thing that has helped me (and I truly have been diagnosed with ADD) is having a well thought out system put into place. First create a system for how you want things to happen, then get yourself and your family ...

Re: Bilingual learning

Hi Krissy, I don't really have any software programs just yet so this what I plan on doing with my son. For about 15min either daily or every other day we will have scheduled "German" time. I plan on starting out the year discussing a bit about the country's culture and making the German flag. Perha...

Re: Bilingual learning

Hi all! Just chiming in to say that German is my native language so thats what we will be doing. ;-) The boys are looking forward to finally being able to have conversations with some of our family members in Germany that don't speak English very well or at all. I'm still researching teaching option...

Re: BJU writing and grammar...thoughts??

Thanks everyone for your help. I've decided my son really does need the repetition and I've heard so many positive things about Rod & Staff so we are going to just stick with Carrie's recommendations. Also just to be sure I don't leave any loop holes, I've decided to just go ahead and order Rod and ...

Re: How do you get ready?

Ahhhh....I'm thoroughly enjoying all of your replies!! I'm a self-professed "messie" (er... I mean I'm the "creative type"). I honestly really do function better when creating if things are messy but my messiness sometimes frustrates me while trying to do school. To make matters worse, I can never s...

I agree, it is a comfort knowing all will be well with y...

Re: HELP - I'm new - need help figuring out what to order

Hi there and welcome! Netpea did an awesome job telling you what you'll need. I just wanted to explain something that I found "very" confusing while I was trying to determine what we needed. At first glance, I thought the various packages, (Economy, Deluxe, Basic, etc) meant each was a complete curr...

Re: One Small Square Seashore...how do you do the activities

I was kinda of assuming thats what you would do but thought perhaps there were some alternative ideas some people have done. Well...we live only about an hour away from Lake Michigan, do you think a field trip to Lake Michigan would work?? Just a thought. Also we have a river in our backyard, not go...
