Re: Considering switching to HOD for high school..placement
I'm not sure he would handle the work load of the world history but he could read the books & would enjoy them. I know that he could not do the 7 hr day that world history requires. It would be way too much. I don't know if it could be modified for him OR how to go about doing that.

Considering switching to HOD for high school..placement help
My DS 15, 16 next by next fall, is interested in doing the World History. I'm not sure how he'd place in the writing, grammar etc. He is using Biblioplan Ancient History now for his 9th grade earning 1 credit Bible, 1/2 credit history, 1/2 credit geography ( and another 1/4 credit from ACE geography...

Would the calculations in the experiments be pretty difficult for a student who is having trouble with Algebra 1?? He has had to redo numerous lessons to bring his grade up -each lesson is given a grade on completion. Redoing the lesson usually gets his grade up into the high 70's or mostly into the...

Re: Beyond artistic expression
You are making me long for a little more 'pink' in my house! What a fun extension your dd has thought of for her Beyond art activity! My sons often extend activities too, but more along the lines of building catapults, re-enacting battles, or having sword fights. :D It sounds like your little...

Re: List benefits of using HOD in High School
annaz, Thank you for this!! It resonated with me. I've prayed so much about these very things and God has shown me exactly this for our family but oh, sometimes I start doubting and wondering and then he brings me back around. One year I had a phrase of a song in my head that He used to help me, "li...

Ok, I found a thread that said quizzes and tests were not scheduled. I got one of my questions answered!

Re: Science in RevToRev and WG
He will need the labs - so, do the labs have math calculations? I'm a little concerned that my oldest will have have trouble with it. He is having some trouble in his algebra this year. Will that make it a problem for him if there ARE calculations in the labs? What about quizes and tests in the Inte...

Re: Science in RevToRev and WG
I can't really say that he is a hands on learner... he never has done much with kinex, legos or that type of thing. He has put together a few small lego kits, maybe does better with instruction type rather than build yourself. I'm not sure how he would do with the calculations though if he did the W...

Unit 7 Day 5 had me drawing the outline of my daughter's hair, face, and shirt. Then, she was to draw in her eyes, nose, mouth, and hair. Noses are HARD to draw!! This acitivity inspired DD to do a paper doll of herself, with mom doing the outlining-she insisted! She has been drawing and color...

Re: Beyond spelling
Oh, I did do the activities as scheduled in the lesson plans once I found what I thought was a good starting place for her. I do understand NOW how the spelling was to be done. She just wasn't challenged at all & really dreaded it. Dictation just might be the thing for her now. I know it wouldn't ta...

by StephanieU » Fri Jan 23, 2015 1:18 pm This discussion might help you: I read through this post. So what would you do if the child has not used HOD. He will need physical science for his 2nd year of high school. He is using TT Algebra 1 & it is not coming easy for him. He has had to redo numerous...

Re: Beyond spelling
I am wondering if your dd is writing sentences fairly easily? If she is writing several short sentences quite well, with proper capitalization, punctuation, and spelling, she may be ready for Dictation Level 2. However, since she placed in Beyond Little Hearts for His Glory, I am assuming that usin...

We are in Unit 6 this week. I didn't think of using words from the other list. That's a good idea. I also do have the Bigger guide.

Re: Beyond spelling
That makes sense. I skipped ahead only after giving her the word lists orally and she'd get them all right without one bit of hesitation. I did the oral thing just to see how she would do with the words, NOT to replace the instructions in the guide. Today now, doing unit 14 'or' words, she did get a...
