freaking out about highschool...

Hi. I have learned on this homeschooling journey that some of us learn the hard way certain things. I am convinced the reason God gives the blessing to the first child is because they are the trial-child...you learn how to parent by trial and error! Some of you came to HOD right at the start and you...

I also got the...

Re: Please tell me it's ok...

I dont know what the future will look like, but right now...it just works best cor our home to only have 1 and a 1/2 guides. (My 3yo does LHTH too). Maybe once I work out some of the kinks (ie tr...

Re: New here with questions

Hi Jessica, Welcome!! It is recommended to begin with where your youngest places and, if you are combining, "beef up" the younger guide to fit your older student. So for your situation you would probably want to buy a few items from the next guide up, like the cursive book maybe, rod and staff engli...

I know this is crazy, but...

I am going to combine my 7yo with my 12yo in bigger. I know, I know... Red flags are waiving everywhere for you placement people. But, I actually feel pretty confident this is what we need to do for our sanity. First let me begin by saying that I know that my daughter fits. Age, reading and writing ...

Re: Started LHFHG and I'm having some behavior problems.

(((Hugs))) I can soo relate. My daughter is my middle and she is the LAST one to get my attention usually. Mine is not overly wild, but instead will comepletly clam up when *I* am the one telling her what to do. LHFHG has really helped my daughter blossom in so many ways! Im not sure if its possible...

Re: What grade do you consider your 12 year old?

Not that my situation means anything...my son's bday is dec 20th (almost here!!) and he is in 6th now. It just makes me laugh though- when anyone asks my children what grade they are in they stutter and stumble to try to remember. They usually look at me and I have to explain that since we homeschoo...

Hi Lacy, Welcome!! You will love HOD! Wish I would have started from beginning w my oldest. I just wanted to chime in w my opinion. Re: Bible Study

Hi, I just wanted to give you a lil response, for whatever it is worth. Doing devotions as a family is so different than doing them individually. Its so nice to be one on one with each child. I try to do the boxes, ussually as scheduled. Preparing's bible is mostly teacher-led, so we worked through ...

Re: OT - Update with changes, confession, and request for ad

Heidi, I just want to give you a (((hug!)) I know it took a lot to post your struggles. Each of my children have their "good" sides and their "bad" sides. (As, I guess we all do!) But it really helps when I "think on what is lovely" about them and pray in faith for what is not. Recently I posted abo...

God is faithful!!

I am updating for any ladies that may have been lurking or interested in any desisions made for my oldest son, whom I am really burdened for right now. He is turning twelve, which is a lil bit of a transitional phase as it is, but he has a very similar personality as me...similar stregths and...simi...

Re: Why are you homeschooling?

I am so extremely blessed by this conversation. Homeschooling takes such commitment and sometimes we need to press into the fight more than others. I have had soooooo many things come against us schooling our children at home. We only know a few homeschoolers and we arent super close...sometimes I f...
