Placement in Rod & Staff English
:D In my quest to be on track to move into Bigger this next school year (at that time my boys will be in 2nd and 3rd grades) I am wondering if it would be wise to start my current 2nd grader on R&S English 2. We are currently using First Language Lessons which they are enjoying. Is this enough for m...

Re: Moving toward HOD - what to do in the meantime? LONG post
What would be the harm in giving dictation a chance for a solid year? I think you'd begin to see good results that carryover into dc's own writing. Dictation deserves a good year or two though, as it is tougher than it looks and takes a bit for dc to truly internalize it. I have found nothing compa...

Re: Moving toward HOD - what to do in the meantime? LONG post
Could you do everything except for just the dictation? And then still do your spelling? Could you maybe do your spelling half speed? I think studied dictation works fabulously, but if you've already got this program going, I think I might find a way to just integrate it into HOD. :D Yes, for sure a...

Ladies, These replies are confirming what the nagging "I think this is the best plan" thoughts have been telling me :D . Bigger looks GREAT and it's nice to hear that many have gone into Bigger after using MFW Adventures. I DO love the LA plans and how balanced & integrated it all is. I enjoyed read...

Moving toward HOD - what to do in the meantime? LONG post
:D We have been moving toward HOD for the past year and would be "home" except for this Mama's insecurities and ignorance  . God is taking me through the wringer and teaching me so much about Him, His faithfulness, my GREAT need of Him, etc. in the process. Who knew that home schooling woul...

Writing Progression :)
Hello ladies, I am primarily a HOD message board lurker  although I did ask a placement question a long time ago. I have a whole bunch of questions but I am finding the answers as I search these wonderful boards! :D In my quest for answers (I am a HOD user wannabe and I'm currently figuring...

Re: New to this board with a few questions
Ladies, Thank-you for your thoughts and for sharing your own experiences!! I appreciate it so much. I did use the Placement Chart (very helpful :) ) and spent some more time looking at everything. I am SO impressed with the organization of each year, the progression of skills, the resources used, et...

New to this board with a few questions
Hi there!! I am researching, thinking, praying, agonizing . . . :) Sound familiar?! I am considering Bigger Hearts for His Glory for my oldest for 2nd grade. Based on the placement charts and his abilities/skills he fits perfectly in that guide. My younger son who will be a first grader actually fit...
