Finished Beyond!

I meant to post on Friday, but I forgot. We finished our whirlwind trip through Beyond. If you remember, we had started it in January switching back to HOD from Sonlight. My son had lost his love for learning and was dreading school. I am happy to say that Beyond has restored that love to him! We di...

Re: Just finished Preparing - now what??

I am not that far along but I think it is usually recommended to keep going forward so I would continue on with CTC. I would probably go half speed since she is on the younger end of the age range. There is a state study of all the states included in Rev to Rev and then a study of your particular st...

Re: Need help re placement

First of all, welcome to the boards! I only have one child so I can't help with advice on running 2 programs at once, but I can try to help with placement. Based on what you have said, I would put your oldest in Bigger. I have heard many people on the boards say Bigger is foundational in getting all...

Re: So excited - Just got Bigger in the mail!

Just curious, what have you used for Spanish? We'd like to start a language while our kids are young but I have no idea what to use. We've used a mix of things. I took Spanish in high school and in college so know a little bit of it. We started with some workbooks I found at our school supply store...

Re: So excited - Just got Bigger in the mail!

Yay! So excited to see that so many of us will be starting Bigger in July! How long before you received your tracking number and/or package? Sorry I forgot to respond earlier. I ordered on May 6th, got a tracking number the next day, and the package was delivered on May 12. So yours should be comin...

Re: Little Hearts or Beyond

Little Hearts is great for first grade! If your son doesn't need phonics instruction, you can go ahead and order the Beyond guide and emerging readers and have him do those. There are actually supplemental titles for reading listed in the Beyond guide as well that you can get from the library if he ...

So excited - Just got Bigger in the mail!

We still have a couple weeks of Beyond left - our last day of school isn't till June 6th. But then we have a week of VBS and then 2 weeks of vacations and then we start back mid-July so I wanted to go ahead and get everything ordered and ready before things get crazy. I ordered Bigger with Extension...

Re: Signature

Look in the top left corner of your screen and you should see a link for User Control Panel. Click on that. Then click on the tab that says Profile. Then to the left you will see a link that says Edit Signature. Then just type in whatever signature you want and submit it. Hope that helps!

Re: Guides: tracking, assignments, multiple kids

I only have one son, but what I have done is I just write the date at the top of the page and then check off each box as we do it. That way at the end of the year, I have all the dates and what we have done right in my guide. If I had more than one child, I would probably do the same thing and eithe...

Re: starting a timeline in CTC

I haven't done CTC yet, but I believe that in CTC through MTMM the timeline is part of the notebook pages that come in the set. The earlier timelines in Beyond, Bigger, and Preparing are just used for 1 year each. The one in CTC through MTMM is cumulative and then when they get to the high school gu...

Re: Placing my 4 year old

Another idea is to do LHFHG, BLHFHG, and BHFHG 4 days a week instead of 5. If you did that, you could easily stretch those 3 guides into 4 years but would still be making forward progress. If your son can do the skills on the placement chart, and it sounds like he can, then he will probably be fine ...

Re: Placement help

What grade is he in? If you are planning on using HOD all the way through high school, doing Preparing for 4th grade and CTC for 5th grade and then a guide per year has you completing them all before graduation. So that's what I would aim for. Also, Preparing is an overview of world history and I li...
