Re: 6th grade placement question
Hi I'm thinking that purchasing the CTC guide and science is a great idea given the interests he has. Also, since he is not an IEW guy, you may want to do the CTC LA as well, using all of English 5 so as to be on target for scheduled grammar in upcoming guides. Just a thought

Re: Trying to decide between HOD and MFW
Hi Ashley, I agree on the separate guides for your boys. I had two boys combined in HOD for a year, but it really held back the older, and the younger never really engaged because he felt overshadowed by big brother  After separating them, both boys have grown so much! Also, while much of their...

Re: current sonlighters considering HOD - placement question
So, you have some options :D Know that you may get several opinions here, and all responders want to help you get settled 8) You can continue with Horizons math if you like, or you can take placement tests for Singapore math and make the switch while the kids are still young. For your 5yo, I would s...

Re: current sonlighters considering HOD - placement question
Hi Mamagoettl :D You are in the right place if your first priority is a God honoring curriculum. I really believe God led me here several years ago when other curricula I had tried just did not give me the peace of knowing that God was the ultimate authority and He wants to be intimately involved in...

Re: Help - probably supplementing too much
Hey Poppy :D Logic will be studied in WG, and critical thinking is an integral part of all HOD guides, so I would let that go. Th poetry is nice, but is also studied in many ways throughout HOD. Maybe save the flashcards for summer brush-up as you will also be studying states and state history in Re...

Re: Questions
Hi Dictation is scheduled in the LA box. The devotional is scheduled once weekly, I believe. The appendix and/or introduction should have details on annotation, although sometimes the details are in the first few days of the lessons. Those are the places I would check

Re: R&S Placement
IMO, if she is super motivated, do RestoRef, otherwise, do CTC and expect her to give her best effort in all the activities CTC is full of great learning, Bible history and secular events combined for a true understanding of ancient times, and the prophecy tracking for Jesus is great

Re: R&S Placement
Ok :D In CTC, both 4&5 are choices that are scheduled twice a week, completing the first half. In RestoRef, they are scheduled again at twice a week to complete the second half. If you choose RestoRef, and do level 4, you would want to do it every day in order to start level 5 with RevtoRev. That wo...

Re: Grading WG
I would say "A" for meeting the criteria such as key word (day 1 of units 1,6,11,16, etc.), summary (day 1 units 2,7,12, etc.), and so on as listed in the suggested grading. Guide dc in their efforts as they work toward meeting all the requirements, hopefully being able to do so consistently by a fe...
