Re: question about the phonics programs HOD offers
Thanks for that link, Rhyah. I don't know if I've seen that one before; if I have, it's been a LONG time.

question about the phonics programs HOD offers
I guess I was too hasty in updating my other thread. I'll admit it- I feel like a child who just got a spanking in front of their friends because my thread got locked. (Yes, my feelings got hurt, even though I understand why Carrie is strict with the thread topics on this board.) Even though ...

Re: DS just not "into" it =(
Thanks for your thoughts, everyone. Even though I'm not the op, I appreciate all the advice. As for my 6yo, I hope I didn't make him sound terrible or anything. Not to hijack the thread, but I feel I should share an update---I think I have figured out the problem--- he was really bothered by the pho...

Re: Phonics Frustration- switch programs or not?
I tried that one out with my oldest when she was 5 and I don't remember the specifics; I just know it wasn't a good fit for us.choochooboysmom wrote:I used Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons for both of my boys. We loved it!

Re: DS just not "into" it =(
Wow. You just described my 6yo. I really don't know what to tell you. My dh told me to just keep on doing everything, and make sure he knows there isn't an option. He must do his school work. My situation is different from yours though. My oldest two children are also doing Beyond, and they are enth...

Re: Phonics Frustration- switch programs or not?
Ok, I definitely need to do something with this child! Besides the phonics stuff, he's just so melancholy when it comes to school! Several times today I had to remind him that he needs to be listening too. A while ago we were doing the blubber activity (we used peanut butter instead of shortening so...

Phonics Frustration- switch programs or not?
Edit to add update: I've made a decision. We are going to use Phonics Pathways. Ds is doing very well with it, and we can keep the lessons short. He wants to do ETC too, so I just ordered him Book 2. I like this plan because we can adjust the pace without completely stalling (which is what we had t...

Re: First day of school with LHTH and Beyond!
I made some changes with our schedule, and today went much more smoothly (and faster!). I color-coded my oldest two's checklists so they can see at a glance which subjects are independent. So, while I am doing LHTH with the youngers, they get to work on independent subjects (like cursive, personal B...

Sounds like you are excited! We are doing Beyond this year too, and I just know it's going to be a great year.

First day of school with LHTH and Beyond!
I just wanted to share that our first day of school (yes, on July 4th!) went very well! We started the day with LHTH for the 2yo and 4yo (during that time my olders did their reading from their Bibles and R&S Readers). My dc loved everything about LHTH! My 4yo and 2yo are the most challenging to me ...

LHTH alphabet flashcards
Am I remembering correctly that these are available somewhere on the website to print, instead of having to make copies from my guide? It would be SO much easier if this is true. If so, can someone point me in the right direction? I'm starting LHTH with my 2yo and 4yo tomorrow, and I'd love to be ab...

Re: Kinda OT: I need help getting baby to sleep to do school!!!!
I was letting my baby take naps in my arms up until he was about 6 months old. Sometimes I could lay him down in the crib, but if he woke up, he wouldn't go back to sleep. He didn't have a set bedtime, and it got to where he was up till at least 10 pm each night before he would fall asleep and stay ...

Re: Question about watercolor paint
Dh and I decided to say "goodbye" to the old paint. So, I get to buy nice new paint when the time comes. (In the meantime we have plenty of "kiddie" paint for them to use.) My school/art cabinets look great now too.
