Re: Beyond - Who stole the Wizard of Oz
I realize this is an old thread, but I just was looking for this information and am so glad to have found it! This is one of the things that I am loving about HOD - that you can easily substitute books in many cases! Awesome.

Are there any necessary skills required for LHFHG?
I am thinking of using LHFHG for my K'er next year. She hasn't really been interested in school yet and we do about 5 min. of phonics instruction each day. (She knows sounds of letters and is actually a decent reader for a 4yo.) Will she be fine going into LHFHG? Or do I need to work with her this y...

CM Books?
HOD is based on Charlotte Mason's methods, right? I was wondering if there was a few recommendations on Charlotte Mason method books that line up with HOD's philosophy that I can read? What are your favorites?

Spelling?
Can someone tell me more about the spelling in Beyond? I am coming from using a spelling program that is VERY in depth. Does the HOD teach any spelling rules at any point? Or do you just give the lists as is? I was going to stick with our spelling as it is working very nicely, but it does take a TON...

Re: Singapore Placement?
Okay, I'm not opposed to going back through 1A; does anyone use the Standards Edition with HOD? I actually have 1A in the standards edition. The pages don't line up with the activities, so I'm thinking I'll just buy the other edition so we can line up with the activities Carrie suggests. Anyone have...

Singapore Placement?
I am trying to figure out where to place my son in Singapore, can you help? :) We are halfway through Beyond, which is why I'm considering 1B, vs. just starting 1A. He has completed quite a bit of traditional, textbook math. He has his addition facts memorized, as in you can drill them quickly. He c...

Math Question
I'm thinking of trying Singapore out, as suggested in our HOD Beyond guide. We're going to be on Unit 14 of Beyond, but I'm not sure if my son is going to be on the same page for math. (He'll be taking the placement test over the next few days.) If he did need to go back in math, how would we do tha...

DITHOR with IEW?
I have been using IEW's Primary Arts of Language: Writing with my son. (It basically is IEW's intro. to their writing program; beginning keyword outlines and retelling stories, for K-3rd graders.) We really like it and plan to stick with IEW for writing. A friend was telling me about DITHOR and I'm ...

Handwriting in Beyond?
I noticed that on the LHFHG website page that there were two handwriting books to choose from, is there any handwriting options included in Beyond? Is it covered in a different way? Or do we provide our own?
Thanks!
Thanks!
