Re: Where to after LHTH?

Could you do LHFHG half-speed 4 days a week and add fun stuff on Friday?

It is spring! At least in Alaska we are rejoicing we see green right now. So, my thoughts drift to taking your DS outside.

Re: FYI: Health Issues and HOD...

Carrie and Julie, we appreciate you both so much. Your curriculum has made it possible for us to homeschool. I will take your petitions to the Throne of Grace, who is ready to help in time of need.

These are my cuties trying on Shana's new frames. I love that John picked up a pair too and promptly put them on. He's my empathetic one. :)

Now THIS explains things!!!

First of all, we love HOD since we've been going half-speed per Mike's suggestion! We'll speed up eventually! And regarding Shana's behavior, she's done MUCH better since I've prayerfully worked to be KIND to her rather than quick-tempered with her. How convicting homeschool has been for ME. Also, m...

Re: LHFHG handwriting - is it enough?

Remember, too, that in LHTH the focus is on letter recognition, while in LHFHG it is on developing the fine motor skills needed to produce letters in manuscript in preparation for cursive. My 5yo K-er has found the handwriting mixed with the "Do it Carefully" and "Finding the Answers" books to be am...

Re: Just stopping in to say "hey!"

Welcome back, Rebecca! It is good to see you back and I am glad you all have had such a productive year!!

And I went on my Emmaus walk in 99 and it changed my life. Career change, heart change, true transformation. So glad you went.

Finish strong! Sounds like you'll do that no problem!

Re: Poor attitude during school work

Christy, I wish you well tomorrow! I had a little tug in MT spirit to encourage you to do LHFHG with him, and I'm glad you're going to try that. I'll be praying for you tomorrow! :)

Re: LHFHG Order

How old is your DC doing LHFHG? We go in order, but I might switch things up if I feel like my 2yo, who often "joins in," is not going to do so very well that day. But I usually go in order. Also, I often break up LH as a section to be done all together, and then pieces of the RH side at various tim...

Re: Disappointed that HoD won't be at nearby conventions

I can't wait till I can go to a convention in what we call the "Lower 48" (continental US). We don't get many curriculum vendors at all at our AK conventions. I found this year's homeschool convention rather boring. Isn't that sad?

Re: Need Help Choosing

Hi Katie, and welcome to the boards! Carrie's left the right side of LHFHG fairly open to the individual family's selections for phonics and math. I would advise you follow her program for Fine Motor Skills and Storytime, though. I'm bumping this for you to see if some other mamas can help you furth...

Re: Need help choosing!

Hi there, and welcome to the boards! Have you had a chance to look at the placement chart? If so, please let us know how each child placed on it. If not, please take a look and check back in here to let us know how your children both place. That's very important to the advice you will receive. Thank...

Re: Week in Review March 26-30

Hi friends! Carrie and Julie, glad you got to weigh in! It is so cool that your dad got to do school with Emmett. What a blessing! We are just starting Unit 16 of LHFHG, just in time for Easter. Jesus just told His disciples about mansions in heaven, and served them the Lord's Supper. Next week, nex...

Re: Ummm...advice...DD5 in LHFHG reading Beyond's book set

You know, my mom has said if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all, so we've been hiding. I know school has been going well, but for every particularly wonderful thing we have going on with school, we have something that is awful, like children's attitude and behavior. The reason I'...
