Re: Organization idea

A few questions for threegreatkids and others using Workboxes or anything else...

Are the subjects that your children are working on individually specified in the TM as to be done individually? or did you make that decision?

Which HOD books are your children in?

Re: Does the workbox system....

Agree, agree, agree! If filling up the Workboxes takes more than 10 minutes, then don't do it! I think it has been good for us now that we are at the end of BEYOND and we both know the routine, so it is easy to add stuff. Come August we will start BIGGER and I cannot see myself continuing until we g...

Re: Does the workbox system....

Carrie, Thanks for your input! This is the exact reason why I took so long to try it out. I wanted to make sure that I was not going to spend more than 10 minutes getting the boxes ready - which is the amount of time I usually use to get ready with just the Teacher Manual. Our first day was good. Le...

Re: What are you adding to HOD if anything in the fall?

We will be starting Bigger in the Fall, at half speed, except for math. I will alternate Handle on the Arts and Spanish and only school 4 days a week.
This is the plan for 2nd & 3rd grade...for now!

Re: Anyone Else Doing Year Round School?

We also do school year round - but without a schedule. If something comes up and we have to skip school it is OK. During the month of July we will be in CA, so instead of starting with Bigger we will keep working on handwriting and Summer Bridge activities worksheet plus 20 minutes of reading. That ...

Re: how to get my ds to turn 7 by the time he starts Bigger

Julie, this really has been a blessing for you to post your plans. So many of us are benefitting from it! After reading it, I also have been working on a plan for Bigger so that we may use it for 2nd & 3rd grade. Samuel will turn 7 at the end of the month, and even though he is able to do all the wo...

Re: Arlington TX Homeschool Fair-- Who went and met Carrie???

Terri, The book fair is great only after you have done your research! However if you like shoppping, touching the books, and finding stuff you have not seen online, then the book fair is the place to be. If you hate crowds and are undecided about how to spend your money, stay home! it will be overwh...

Re: Arlington TX Homeschool Fair-- Who went and met Carrie???

I was there too! I took 5 of my friends and I we spent our money very well at the HOD booth. The highlight, of course, is talking to Carrie and Julie...they worked so hard! I hope they will consider volunteers next year so they can at least get a long bathroom break and lunch! We love you ladies. Yo...
