Re: A Gal Chat about Scheduling
We have been pretty relaxed with start times but we r just finishing up the last few weeks of Beyond, so are doing fine but I am starting to "worry" about Bigger!!! Right now it takes us 2-2 1/2 hr to do Beyond & LHTH so we just head to the school room after breakfast, whenever we r ready. Julie, th...

Re: Adding more writing to LHfHG?
Have you added the spelling list 1 from Beyond? I would definitely start that. Then in Beyond she can do list 2 and be ready for dictation in Bigger. Depending on her reading, you could also add Dithor, as the notebook would have some writing assignments. Also if there's discussion after the history...

Re: LHFHG and an independent reader
Honestly, I would do the ER's. My DD, just turned 7 last year when we started Beyond. She had been devouring chapter books on her own for an entire year before we started homeschooling. I went thru the ER's anyway & I'm glad I did. It really helped her to read aloud to me, something she wasn't good ...

Re: Funny! Key to the Treasure
Our public library has the whole series, we read the first one in Beyond and HAD to go get the rest! I think this is the series by Peggy Parish? She also wrote the Amelia Bedilia books!!

Re: Anyone planning to stretch Beyond longer than a year?
We did Beyond 4 days a week last year. It worked great. We stopped at about Unit 25, (actually it was in the middle of a unit, I don't know why. I'm blaming morning sickness!) And picked it back up this fall without skipping a beat!!! So its working great for us, altho I am getting excited to start ...

Re: Is there a supplies needed list for each program?
As far as what notebooks, etc you need to start you can read the introduction for each guide online. In the intro, it will give ideas on how to store, what you need for each box. Also, several ladies have taken pictures and shared how they've set up the guides. This link is for Bigger, Preparing, Re...

I'm not sure if anyone on this blog roll is doing high school but this would be the place to check.

Cul de sac kids
Focus on the family series Imagination Station
HOD has a sample book list (listed with DITHOR materials) that has extra books not in the packs, you'll find some good ones there. Also in the appendix of LHTH, LHFHG & Beyond there is a list of add'l reading material.

Re: LHTH with only 4 free days a week?
We are in unit 17 of LHTH now with my preK'er and we started out last fall going half speed plus only 4 days a week and it didn't bother us that the letters didn't line up with the week. Even after we started going full speed we only went 4 days a week. We would just excited say "this is day 1, its ...
