Trouble with Bigger Hearts...
I have loved HOD since day 1. We finished Little Hearts and Beyond Little Hearts and I was still in love. But Bigger has been tough. My 7yr can do the work, but it is too much. So we backed down to 1 page of the guide per day. Not good. I tweaked it every which way I knew how and failed. The biggest...

Re: Adventure book for storytime
Just finished reading it with my 7 year old and he loooooved it. It is quite an advanced book but he would tell me when his mind was going blank and I would explain it. This happened for the beginning chapters. He always wanted us to read more, more, more. He also asked a lot of questions about Worl...

Re: Question about Bigger
Hi Julia, During week 2 of Bigger we were also feeling like it was too much! But I took a deep breath and made the following adjustments. Maybe they will help you or give you ideas. 2 weeks of only one page of the Guide per day - now in unit 4 we are starting to complete 2 pages of the guide. Englis...

Re: HELP! What should I do???
Hi! I am from Costa Rica and dh from Venezuela and we live in Texas. We are doing Bigger as is but at least once a week I find out what was going on around the same dates we are covering in American history, and we add this to our Costa Rica notebook. We are only in unit 4, and the history has been ...

Re: Does it matter if you use Beyond books with Bigger?
for what part of the unit? if for storytime - it does not matter.
Science, History, Geography, Devotional - page numbers will be different since you are using different books.
Could you be more specific?
just trying to help...

Re: DITHOR level 2 book pack???
My son is 7 and we are reading the last chapter of Amelia Earhart. He LOVED it! It was never an issue that the story was about a girl. And she is so brave and bold and has so many great ideas...especially building a slide from the roof to the ground and then actually sliding on it. My son immediatel...

Re: 2nd grade Reading question
Patience, When my 7 yr was moving up in the emerging readers I tried to avoid having him "feel the jump in levels" by purchasing other books in whatever series we had just finished or at that same level. So it took us a little longer to finish them, but he is now a strong reader! I would wait until ...

Re: Drawn Into Heart of Reading - Scope & Sequence?
Srappy11,
I don't have a scope and sequence for DITHOR - but could you use the intro page of the book http://www.heartofdakota.com/drawn-into.php ? It would be a matter of fitting this info into whatever form you've been given.
Just an idea !

Re: 2 kids, Beyond and Bigger right page, but which left page??
Laurie Beth, We completed Beyond last school year and loved the left side of the lesson! I think your children will enjoy it and by your descriptions of them it seems like they would enjoy it too. The history stories are wonderful, the science is perfect for their ages, the poetry is excellent and t...
