Re: Young learner wants to begin cursive, what do you think?
Makes perfect sense Carrie, thank you! Candice :D I agree with Carrie as well. My thoughts are that it's not just about having fun writing it. You have to be able to read it as well. Not that that can't be done, but I'd hate to work twice as hard, because they had fun writing it, then they had to w...

Re: NEW CATALOG JUST ARRIVED!!!
That's wonderful that the catalogs are arriving. Isn't the cover beautiful? If I could redo my house, that would be my dream room (minus a few of the artifacts since we're not from the ancients time period :D ). You may recognize some of our fellow HOD ladies from the board as you read the comments...

Cheerful Cursive!!!!
I just wanted to mention that I emailed Cheerful Cursive company to send me samples of their program and while it took about 2 weeks, they sent me some! It looks like a fantastic program and just the type of cursive I was looking for! I love that it shows other letters on how they could look. Differ...

Re: Please tell me you DON'T do this with the Rhymes and Motions
Never fear, Julie! :D One enthusiastic rhyme participant checking in! :D We had a great time twisting 'n turning 'n touching our toes in the T-T-T rhyme. Garret was thrilled to learn how to spin super-fast on one foot. It is amazing how kids pick up and mimick our attitudes towards things. We...

S/O from the rhymes and motions and teaching ways
how do you all teach from the living room/kitchen, etc? I know my dd would prefer to be where-ever...but I would be running around like a crazy person grabbing this and that if I"m not at my comfy little desk table doing school, where I can swing my chair around and grab what I need, printing as nee...

Re: Please tell me you DON'T do this with the Rhymes and Motions
We haven't done those programs, however, I get up and do the jumping jacks and sit-ups and all that jazz for bible memory with dd. She thinks I'm a dork, but loves me doing it! Love it!

Re: DITHOR & vocabulary
Annaz - Vocabulary study is also added in the HOD core guides beginning with BHFHG. It is done within the context of history, and that along with the DITHOR vocab. study, has really expanded my ds's vocabulary. Now, that we did it in PHFHG again, I've seen how adept my ds has become at using contex...

Re: DITHOR & vocabulary
So it's provided? You don't need to find another program for vocabulary? The sample doesn't show this. I can't see the Appendix, because I don't have DITHOR.eazbnsmom wrote:Annaz
If you look in the appendix there are 3 worksheets to use for the Vocabulary Activity.

DITHOR & vocabulary
I'm reading through the DITHOR sample and it says I think on Day 2, to use your vocabulary. What are you all using for this?

Re: This could be a dumb Preparing question, but
annaz, I'm wondering if there is a spot somewhere on the internet where you could view the Table of Contents of Hillyer's A Child's History of the World (noting that we omit the first couple of chapters) and Grandpa's Box? That would really help you get an even better feel for the coverage in Prepa...

Re: I should have just ordered the package....
I never find downloading books a good deal. With the price of paper and ink, it takes twice as much money. Unless of course you read it online, and I can't do that. Too hard on the eyes and I don't enjoy being on the computer ALL the time. So I've been there done that as well.
