Re: Tomorrow is the big day!

I'm glad it went better than your dreading :) I know how that is. My girl loves to learn, so I don't have that battle, but she's not a fan of handwriting or spelling. There is always something that isn't as fun. She's doing better this year about both of those than she was last year though. It's en...

Re: Tomorrow is the big day!

So how was your day? Ours was fabulous! She was so excited to do everything...especially grammar! That made my English-teaching-heart do a little leap for joy :) I'm happy for you. It was light years better than I was dreading. The day didn't start out as I initially intended but it turned ou...

Tomorrow is the big day!

We're starting Beyond and I'm feeling so nervous.I think it's the thought of adjusting to a new routine. Once I've found a schedule that works for us and DS gets familiar with it and knows what to expect, all will be fine - but the process of change always incurs resistance and behavioral problems w...

Re: My Beyond TG arrived today :)

I'm very encouraged. :D I think I'm going to get the emerging readers going again right away, as in today. Angie, your comment about narration skills reminded me that I need to give attention to that. Without the schedule in the guide, I've been tending to ... not. :? I'm kind of eager anyway. We we...

Re: Just ordered Preparing!

That's about when we'll be starting Beyond. I don't have a school room to organize, though. :)

I'm looking forward to sharing the year with you. Enjoy your box of books!

My Beyond TG arrived today :)

Thank-you for speedy shipping. :) I spent all of nap/quiet time going through the history plan. I'm intending to begin the Monday after next doing the language arts "as is" at first - that is, four days of spelling and the included grammar on the fifth day. I may add R&S 2 back into his day once we'...

Re: Could Beyond work for this child?

All these things considered, I'm thinking Beyond with some elements of Bigger is the way I'm going to go. I only remembered DITHOR last night - I wasn't thinking about that being scheduled in Beyond but that's a great idea for adding in down the road. I appreciate the help, ladies. Thanks. :)

Could Beyond work for this child?

I'm looking at the placement guide. He is within the age range (will be 6.5 at the beginning of the coming school year). Besides that, I would only need to purchase the guide and one of the books; the rest I have (although I realize that consideration is not on the placement guide). As I'm looking a...

Re: So excited....made my first order!!

Oh yay! I feel your excitement. We are intending to do LHFHG when my son is 5 next year and can I confess ... I have put the stuff I would need to buy in my shopping cart even though my husband won't allow me to order for quite a few months yet since this is not for use until next year? Let's ...

Re: wholesome chapter book free reads

Probably not exactly what you're looking for but just in case it's useful (it's definitely wholesome) .. Jean Henri Fabre wrote a couple of chapter books but they're more than stories, they're a science education within a chapter book. It's just not the same as regular novel though. I don't know rea...

Re: Concerns about depth of 'Bigger Hearts'...

Even I'm excited by what I've read in this thread and I'm no where near getting to use Bigger yet.

I'm also excited that you're going to be joining us! I want to hear all about how it's going once you start!
