Re: When do you "grade/check" their work?

I check my kiddos nearly as soon as they complete it. I work with students individually on the couch. Others start a stack next to me that I check as I have downtime (like when I'm reading for dictation, or a child is working some sample math problems to make sure they understand the lesson). Correc...

Re: Has a revised high school guide plan been stated?

Thanks for the update! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Sounds great. So glad to hear it. I'm relieved. The thought of having to try to piece something together on my own after years and years of dependence on HOD was not a good one...

Has a revised high school guide plan been stated?

I know that Carrie plans to finish up the World History guide this year, with the complete guide shipping out in spring. Is it still the plan for the third high school guide still going to be written? Has any timetable been stated regarding when we can realistically expect to see sneak peeks and the...

Geometry... For those using A Guided Inquiry...

What do you think of it so far? I'm trying to make a decision on Geometry for next year. I think I'm debating between this and Jacobs. I read an old thread that talked a little about the two, but at that point, I don't think many people had the hands on experience with it yet. I wish I could get my ...

Seven weeks in and loving our HOD school year, as always!

Thanks, Carrie! My oldest is particularly enjoying the Mapping the World with Art. She has also been pleasantly surprised to find that she enjoys the Spanish. We missed storytime (the read aloud aspect), so I used her recent knee surgery/injury recovery time to read Word to Caesar to her, and now I'...

Is there a "preparing for World Geography" type post?

I need to start getting my ducks in a row since we start in less than three weeks, and I think I'll be using five complete guides and a few things out of a sixth. I'm not looking forward to the copying for the composer study... I remember not being able to get my printer to print on both sides of th...

Re: ANOTHER Singapore 6A/6B question!

With my average math student, I'm having him complete Singapore 6A/6B (he'll be finishing during his seventh grade year), and then complete the No Nonsense Algebra, and THEN the Foerster's Algebra. He'll still be starting it by his freshman year, which I personally think is just fine. I really don't...

Re: Just finished reading all the World Religions books

I don't know if I'll get them all pre-read before my daughter or not. I did read I Dared to Call Him Father - absolutely excellent and challenging. Right now I'm reading Mimosa - very educational and thought provoking. I will probably read The Sign Above the Door next, just b/c it's the first Living...

This looks smaller than what we used, but I think Carrie or someone mentioned the elastic strap being nice: http://www.crgibson.com/small-sketch-ru ... 6rUsXlOWM-

Re: Supplies for CTC - science

I think there's a fairly early lab that requires m&m's, but there's a note in the guide about a week in advance to let you know.
