Need high school advice; guides overlapping grades/behind.

I need some help from those that have gone before me. :D Everyone here has such a wealth of knowledge, and I can sure use some insight on high school planning for my oldest dd. I hope I can make our situation make sense...here goes: DD (15) is currently working on finishing up the WG guide (this sho...

Re: Sneak Peek #11: New World History Guide

Thanks, Carrie. I had planned to use Foerster's Alg. 1 after No-Nonsense pending how quickly she moved through it, just because she has seen where it isn't as indepth. We only went with No-Nonsense because she used Mr. Fisher's Pre-Alg. to help her through some stumbling blocks in TT Pre-Alg. She wa...

Re: Sneak Peek #11: New World History Guide

We are in the WG now, and my dd is using No-Nonsense Algebra alongside CTC Math (online). CTC Math has taken over for a bit as she is quite enjoying it. My thoughts were going from this into Foerster's Alg. II. We have CTC Math for another 1 1/2 years, and it does cover Alg. II, Geometry, Pre-Calc a...

Re: WG - how do you track narrations, teacher involved lesso

Thank you, Julie. I am going to try using what you did and have a meeting point. I generally have to keep on top of her as she isn't a self starter. I am anxious to see if this helps her with being more disciplined/accountable.

Re: WG BJU Literature - what do you use off the cdrom?

Thank you for that. You just gave me some sanity back! :D What I am seeing is that my dd needs to be more disciplined and pay more attention to what she is reading as far as the instructions/intro material before the stories. I don't know if she is just skimming, rushing, or what. I did print out a ...

WG - how do you track narrations, teacher involved lessons?

I am trying to figure out the best way to track everything I need to do in the World Geo guide. Right now I printed out an undated calendar, and I wrote in all the subjects for each day that require my participation. I have 5 units written out so far. It is nice to see it written out this way lookin...

WG BJU Literature - what do you use off the cdrom?

We just started the WG guide 2 weeks ago. As we get use to this new schedule, we are moving fairly slow. One question I have about the BJU Literarture is what do you print off and use from the cdrom in the teachers book? Anything? I am finding that my dd is reading through all her info too quickly a...

Awesome! It might be fun to record your sessions, and then later go back and listen to them when he is older...much older. Very cool!

Re: experiments & notebooking-Bigger

This is my third time around using Bigger. We are using the lab sheets from Preparing as well. This is the first time that I am using the PDF files on the HOD yahoo group where gals have come up with some lovely history and science sheets. We don't use all of them, but we do use quite a bit. While i...

Re: Please tell me if this will work...

For the older two, I'd suggest having 2 guides. Then have one work the left side of a day while the other works the right side. That would keep them from needing the same books at the same time. I'd take any project/experiment boxes and combine those do they work on them together perhaps. You could ...

Re: MTMM week 32 day 2 Worthy Words problem

We were able to find an article online that we used. It might not have been the same article, but it seemed a good fit. I did a google search for the name plus topics mentioned in the questions or summary note for that block and picked what seemed to match best. Here is what we used. I hope it's oka...

Re: 2nd year Foreign Language for High School

We're doing German here as well and also bought the Living Languages Complete. I like seeing that someone else is also using it. Makes me feel that I'm going in the right direction. :-D We're aiming to get through this in 9th and 10th, then dd wants to "learn all languages" after that...French, Span...

Re: CTC - Watercolor - High School Credit Worthy?

It does sound like with the other things you have done that his work and studies in this are enough for credit. We are working through some things in this area ourselves as dd does an outside art class...and has just been selected to have her work published from a contest her teacher entered her in....
