Thanks for your response, Kathleen. It is encouraging that you are doing it daily with an 8 yo and it is not too overwhelming. I am just concerned with doing it daily with all 3 of mine. I was thinking of them taking turns and then allowing them to read another book of their choice on their off days...

DITHOR Every other Day?
I know this has been talked about before and I'm not sure where I saw it. I remember people saying that they used DITHOR every other day or 2x/week and made it last two years by doing that. I am getting ready to start doing Bigger for my two 8 yos and w/ Extensions for my oldest 10 yo. Reading is sc...

Thanks, Julie, for taking the time to respond to my question. Your answer was helpful. Your words about your stress level going up and up as you get more and more behind totally describes me! I like staying right on track. :D I guess your words have helped me be more okay with sticking with the plan...

Re: Our schedule for happily combining LHFHG and BIGGER
2. We keep the time allotments for things about the same, that meant no going off on tangents and taking an hour for poetry when we've planned 5-10 minutes for it, etc. Julie, thanks for taking the time to post this! I love schedules and routines! My question has to do with the above quote. I reall...

Hi, Debbie! I did switch over after using MFW for 1st, ADV, and ECC. I really did enjoy MFW very much, but, like you, have found an even better fit with HOD. You can read my original post with some great answers given by the ladies here at: http://www.heartofdakota.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=670&high...

Along this vein of thought, I have found it to be very helpful for me personally to read the book A Charlotte Mason Companion by Karen Andreola. It has really helped me in understanding CM's philosophies and why she held them. I like to know WHY I am doing something, rather than just doing it becaus...

Hi, Natreez! Welcome! I can speak to this issue somewhat. We did MFW ADV before doing MFW ECC. We are planning to use Bigger this summer with my twin 8 yos and using the Extension Pack with my 10 yo. I have not actually used Bigger yet, but I do have the manual and have looked through it quite a bit...

Great Website for Forms
I was just using this website as I started planning out next year and so I thought I would pass it on to you all since it has been such a help to me. Everything on this site is free and she has forms for almost anything a homeschooling mom could want! It is www.donnayoung.org. I especially like her ...

W2W, you crack me up! :D I so relate to you - agonize over the little things if you don't have anything major to figure out! I use IYW off and on. My 10 yo dd likes it a lot. We are using the 1st level. When I use it, I do use it about once a week. And then we don't use it for awhile and just pick u...
