Re: Question about Math recommendations.
Thanks so much Julie and Carrie. That is great. I think I will try Videotext after 6B, only because I am hoping I can get it all via the internet, as postage costs are so high to get anything over here to NZ so anything I can save is good. Even if it means I have to sit alongside her as she does it.

Re: Following instructions for LHFHG Art?
I think what I'm going to do with Beyond is to demonstrate or do one at the same time, give them a better idea of what is expected. My girls just follow the instructions themselves now, but sometimes I feel the little guys need to have an example to understand the instructions and because I want the...

Re: Storytime/Copywork question for Beyond...
At this point, I am having my son copy one line of the poem each day. I'm not worried as long as he is doing his best. I will keep it to about five minutes a day, so I imagine by the end of the guide he will be doing possibly three lines. As for the storytime, I look at the number of pages in the bo...

Question about Math recommendations.
Carrie, I see you recommend Videotext Algebra. My blossoms are using Singapore, at which level would you suggest they finish up to move onto Videotext Algebra. Thanks so much, I'm just trying to work out where our direction will be for math.

Re: Just got our PH pkg! A few concerns...
Shannon, it seems alot when you look at them all together, but when you spread it over the 35 weeks, it isn't that much. You will be reading aloud the storytime, and the history if you want to, so then it just leaves your 3rd grader with the independent history and the science readings and some days...

Re: Cant decide where to start!
I had my oldest do Preparing with extensions when we first started because I was trying to combine. The guide was too easy for her and the extensions did help, but she really needed to be challenged in the majority of her work, not just some. She is now doing RtR without extensions, although we have...

Help with transposing b and d.
Hi there ladies,
I'm just wondering if anyone has any great ideas on how to help DS7 with remembering which is which. He transposes not only with his reading but in his writing too. Any help will be gratefully received.

Re: Bigger in a FOUR DAY schedule?
We have been doing Bigger Hearts 4 days a week. While it definately isn't ideal, it is what has fitted us as a family. I just do one whole day worth and the next column each day. So on Mondays, we do double history and two rotating boxes. On Tuesday we finish Day 2 and do half of Day 3 which doubles...

Re: Not American... Question about doing LHFHG a second time
Yen, I am in a similar position to you, being from New Zealand. I ended up coming to the conclusion that the skills they learn throughout the guides far outweigh the fact they are learning american history. I will as the children go, add in extra New Zealand and British History through living books,...

Re: Help with Placement Please!
I love to looks of these programs and want to give her enough challenge so she is "bored" (her words!) but not so much to overwhelm her. She is a perfectionist and a box checker so she sometimes struggles with balancing learning with completing. Any suggestions would be so much appreciated! :) I ha...

Re: New LHFHG Guide
What we are referring to is our children's ages of doing LHFHG. Not to the curriculum at all. The curriculum is not behind at all, in fact if anything the upper guides are what I would think was ahead of public schools in NZ.
