Re: Need Help/ Ideas - Resurrection- Reformation
I do appreciate all the replies of encouragement, ideas, and thoughts you've shared. I don't have much time right now nor energy to try and put my thoughts out in a post. But here is a bit that I can share right off. He has been very independent in his school work, get the next thing out and get it ...

Re: Need Help/ Ideas - Resurrection- Reformation
I just wrote a post and completely lost it and I don't feel like trying to remember it all. :( So..... I am going to try covering the boxes. He compared thanksgiving dinner to school..all this food to choose from and where do you start... just pick some a little here and a little there and pretty so...

Re: Need Help/ Ideas - Resurrection- Reformation
He didn't place into the high school guides in Lit, writing, and english according to placement chart. He was rather all over the place. Overall best placement was going to be in the younger guide to get everything planned out for him which is what he was wanting. We had also already done biology. I...

Re: Need Help/ Ideas - Resurrection- Reformation
Yes, he knows it is for a younger age, but I have always kept the positive attitude that it can be used for high school by beefing it up. When he has days that go longer he is incredulous that it is for younger and gets thoughtful but hasn't said it bothers him. If he would, I would be quick to reas...

Re: Need Help/ Ideas - Resurrection- Reformation
That's the suprising thing about him saying that. He has had a hard time answering questions in the past. He seemed to do best with CM type of learning. But I have become a bit uncertain that we've made the right choice, I mean like maybe he could've done the world history guide after all, it would ...

Need Help/ Ideas - Resurrection- Reformation
We are using RtR with 16yr. old son. This was the guide we felt led to do after much thought and prayer and God provided it for us. We are using a different math and beefed up the science. He is doing everything else pretty much as is, adding the optional writing assignments, extension pkg, and usin...

Re: Storytime with kids in multiple books
don't have 3 different storytimes, only 2, but I suggest moving one of them to lunchtime {to read while they eat}, Ok, I'm NOT being critical just honestly curious and really, really wondering about this...I have read others suggesting this very thing on other boards as a time when books could be r...

Re: Introverted personality & HOD..
queenirenepf3 -- YES! Thank you. That was so good and very helpful. I am planning on using the timer also, for math. We will be using CLE and it can take longer to get done. So I plan to use the alloted time in Bigger for math and set the timer and be done when it goes off and continue with it the n...

Re: Introverted personality & HOD..
Nealewill: Thanks for your kind words. I will continue to pray for the direction we are to take with our DD. You have given me encouragement, hope, and courage to continue if that is God's will. To see better how I could give her more of the responsibility in getting it done has helped tremendously....

Re: Introverted personality & HOD..
Ok so now I feel really, really embarrased for all that rambling  and for mentioning other curriculum  Have homeschooled right from the start, 9yrs, I have always tried to get curriculum that my children could do on their own. They have become very independent in their schooling. Yet, ev...

Re: Introverted personality & HOD..
I appreciate all the responses. I was just wanting to find out if this program worked or how it worked if you had this kind of personallity. It sounds like it's working well for those who have replied. Up til now, I have only 1 child using HOD. She is the youngest of 4. She has 3 older brothers - 16...

Re: Finish Beyond or jump to Bigger
My DD would like to just keep doing Beyond. I looked at the placement chart and she places in Bigger. She will be turning 9 end of August but will be in '3rd grade'. We started cursive last year in the 2nd book of Pentime( they introduce cursive half way through the book) but she didn't finish it. I...

Introverted personality & HOD..
HI! any introverted moms out there using HOD and if so, how are you doing it?? any tips, suggestions, ideas? PM would be fine. So many threads talk about 'modifying for the child with learning challenges" is there any modifying for the introverted mom?? It's hard for me to let go of something that m...

Finish Beyond or jump to Bigger
I don't know what to do.. We stopped for the summer and are a little over half way through Beyond. My DD8 turning 9 the end of Aug., could easily start with Bigger if we choose to continue with HOD for this next school year. I have considered just taking the beyond schedule and just finish up the hi...
