Re: Ladies, I need prayer!
Thank you all for your kind words, prayers, and words of wisdom. After a prayer with the boys, my youngest son was overcome with guilt and grief when he started to realize how he had lived, momentarily, for self (and therefore, not God). He cried and came to me with a sincere apology. He then told m...

Ladies, I need prayer!
I am struggling with my children - specifically my teenager. He has no respect for me and I can see satan getting a foothold in his life. He recently had electronics/internet taken away from him for adding people he didn't know as "friends" on skype. I did this because of the DANGER it posed to him....

Carrie - Writing Curriculum Question...
My youngest son is working in Preparing right now, and while writing is not scheduled daily, I did see that there were recommendations for anyone wanting to pursue that route. My bacherlor's is in English and I have tried many, many writing programs with very little success. We did enjoy "Write with...

Re: I would so appreciate your prayers...
Lifting up your family in my daily prayers. If it is okay, I will also add you both to our prayer list at church tonight. With the ages of your children, I can't help thinking your husband must also be quite young. I am sorry about the difficult news, but I agree that God is in charge here and He is...

Re: Started the new school year yesterday!
So jealous! I put the oldest two kids in school for a bit, so I was only HSing my 6yo. I can't wait to pick back up with all of them! Summer break usually doesn't end til after labour day here. I told the kids we're starting July 30th though, lol. That gives them a month off. I put together a calen...

Re: Singapore Math doubts & concerns
My oldest son did well with Singapore until level 6. Then we switched to Teaching Textbooks Pre-Algebra. He was able to make the transition from Singapore 6A (after using Singapore 3A, 3B, 4A, 4B, 5A, 5B, and most of 6A) right into pre-algera and he is doing well. We take the Stanford Achievement te...

Re: Rev to Rev Science question/substitution question
I am getting ready to place my order, but had some questions. I see you can do substitution for books, but I was thinking based off the number of books I have, it would be best to just order everything seperate. Would this be the best way? It really depends on what you have . They offer a lot of th...

Re: Just ordered Preparing!
We just finished Unit 1 of Preparing (we have done all previous guides except Little Hands) and so far, it is great. We are not doing extensions as my son is in 4th grade and will not be 9 until the end of Sept. The amount of writing is stretching him, but it is a stretch he was more than ready for ...

Started the new school year yesterday!
We began our 4th year with HOD yesterday!!! We started Rev to Rev at the end of last year, so ds13 picked up in Unit 5. Ds9 began Preparing and we are already loving it so much. I was worried that the writing would be a lot for him, but Bigger prepared him well to go right into Preparing with no pro...

Re: Which grade level for standardized testing?
You definitely want to test based on the grade they would be in in PS. If your child is ahead, that will show in his testing...bu you definitely do not want to test above grade level and have the things where your child is ON grade level show negatively. Does that make sense?

Re: Rev2Rev Inventor Study?
Yep...and in our state the EE science in Rev to Rev can count for 9th grade credit even if the child takes the course in 8th grade. That is what we are doing this year. My son has loved the inventor study thus far as well.
