All in Bigger. It's for 7 to 9 year olds, I believe. I will have a 6 year old (who has been keeping up with her older sister and actually catching on more quickly) a 7 year old and a 10 year old.Gwenny wrote:Are you meaning that you would like to put them all in Bigger, or just the 5th grader?

Re: New Catalog
Mine came last week, I think. It looks just like the catalog I got when I ordered in January. I didn't compare prices, but the cover looks the same.

Bigger Hearts with Extension Package
Next year I will have a first grader (officially, though she's doing mostly first grade work this year, though she's only 5) and a second grader and a fifth grader. I'd like to do Bigger Hearts with the extension package for my 5th grader. I'd love to hear how this works with an assortment of ages. ...

left side of Beyond? Right side of Bigger?
I was reading the thread about copywork, and I saw that some families are using two curriculum guides and doing the left side of one and the right side of the other.
Please tell me about this. Is this how you combine different ages or grades?

Re: Do you "get your kids up"?
What time do you get going in the morning? Let me admit one of my greatest vices...SLEEP!! I don't wanna get out of bed. If I "let" my kids rise on their own, they are up by 8:00-8:30. What time do you and your kids start your days? What do your mornings look like...breakfast...chores...star...

supplementing Kindergarten and 1st Grade Math
Singapore math doesn't offer review every day. I come from an ABeka background, so math without daily review is something new to me. My 1st grader doesn't know her addition facts yet. We took a step back and we've been working on the last kindergarten math book, but so far there aren't any reminders...

Re: Spelling words in Kindergarten?
In my opinion, Invented spelling (I call it phonetic spelling) is helpful only in creative activities in the early grades. When your child just writes a story for fun and is so excited to have expressed herself in this way, don't ruin the moment by pointing out all the errors. You might add a misspe...

Re: Fish out of Water
I look through the week on Sunday to see if I need any materials. I put post-it flags on the poem of the week, the 1st grade math schedule, etc. In the curriculum guide, I draw a little line in the margin by all the activities we're going to do. Then as we do them, I put an x on the little line so I...

Re: LHTH for Kindergarten year?
I wish I'd done that. I tried it when I had two preschoolers and it was too soon and I was too busy with my then-second grader to give it my full attention. Last year I tried to use My Father's World for Kindergarten and preschool, and it was not a good fit for us. We pieced together other things to...

Re: Columbus Discovers America?
I'll be showing my kids photos of the church in Galway, Ireland where Columbus prayed. He went there to get advice from Irish monks who had written accounts of Brendan's voyage to North America around the year 500. Then of course the Vikings came to America too (somewhere around 1000 AD, maybe a lit...

I'm interested to hear how this works! We're still struggling with copywork here, and I haven't started a spelling program yet this year. Dd does NOT like spelling.

Re: Let's share our schedules!
My goal is to start school by 9:30. My oldest is using Teaching Textbooks for math and she loves it so much (this loving math is new since we switched from A Beka to Teaching Textbooks), and she wants to start school before that. She starts about 9 while I shower or clean up my room or whatever I ne...
