Re: Chapter book suggestions for my 7yo girl
My horse loving daughter has enjoyed several books by Margerite Henry. They are good quality and she devours them each time I give her another! I'm not sure if they will be too hard at this point for your child or not but it's worth a look.

Re: favorite programs for languages
We have really enjoyed Song School Latin put out by Classical Academic Press. I will say, though, for us the DVD really makes the program so I would keep that in mind if you choose this one. It's fine without it, but it's my children's favorite part. I learn a lot from it too!

If not R&S
Hi ladies, I'm starting CTC in July with my 5th grader. We have been using R&S for grammar for years now with a small break using CLE. I have to say, R&S isn's our favorite. I know it's very thorough and good but does anyone NOT use it? I am considering Jr. Analytical Grammar and IEW Fix It Grammr. ...

Starting CTC and Little Hearts soon
Hi ladies!! Well, I attended the convention in Cincinnati this weekend. I talked with Mike Thursday and purchased CTC!! Yay! I'm a HOD newbie. I spent the next 2 days looking and buying all sorts of things. On Saturday, right before the convention ended, I popped back over to HOD to ask a science qu...

Re: DITHOR - two levels
I am planning to use Veritas for history for my middle child. I've not decided about language arts except R&S English and spelling. Oldest child is doing CTC exactly like it is, though i may sub in another writing program here and there.

Re: DITHOR - two levels
Thanks! So am I understanding correctly that it won't be much help to run them both through DITHOR if I'm using another curriculum for my 2nd grader? My goal was to make things simpler by them both receiving the same instruction for reading on the same days - of course different activities but for t...

DITHOR - two levels
Hi ladies, I'm trying to decide if I will change my current reading program and use drawn into the heart of reading next year when we start HOD. I really do like what we are currently using, but it is really time consuming. One of the things that seems enticing about DITHOR is that you can use it fo...

Re: Brushing up on history and literature
This is all helpful! I could definitely order CTC early. I was planning to get it in April anyway. I've also thought about getting Susan Wise Bauer's History of the Ancient world (and the following volumes) just to get an overview in story form. This has given me a lot to think about.

Re: Brushing up on history and literature
Yes I suppose I could do that. I guess I was thinking a more advanced level but maybe CTC material would be sufficient.

Brushing up on history and literature
Hi ladies, My oldest daughter is in 4th grade and I know things will ramp up in all subjects next year. We will be using CTC. I'm so excited about this, but I just didn't receive a very good education in history and really not with literature either. I'm trying to find a textbook, a certain path wit...

Re: CTC writing
Thanks for the replies so far.
I actually use R&S for grammar and love it so I will keep that. I'm just talking about the writing specific portion. We also really like CLE reading, but it only occupies about a half a year. So I think I can alternate that with DITHOR.

CTC writing
Hi ladies, We are planning to use CTC next year for my 5th grade daughter. I was planning to just go with whatever writing is suggested. But we are doing a combination of Classical Academic Press' Writing and Rhetoric and a new program called Treasured Conversations. We will finish that one but Writ...
