Re: School supply shopping time??

Hi Sewpeaceful! For Beyond I purchased a box of 200 plastic page protectors, white copy paper, binders and divided the subjects like this: Poetry/Copywork Spelling/LA Timeline/Geography Science Literature Study (story time), also made a copy of the cover of each book we read and used as divider. As ...

I believe you can now only purchase HOD manuals through HOD.
I am sure someone else will send you the link with all the info!

Classical Music for Bigger Unit 1

Besides learning the Hymns in Bigger I will play these free MP3's and mention that this was the music of Christopher Columbus' era. That's it. No composer study, no additional work. Just a soundtrack for our history travels. http://www.jsayles.com/familypages/earlymusic.htm I think I will do the sam...

Re: Hands-On in Southern California?

Oh my! I wish you would have posted this one week ago! I am in Pasadena for a month and would have loved to have a reason to bring my guides with me!!! Are you close to Pasadena? The only guide I have with me right now is Little Hearts that I am using to get my nephew started. If you want to talk, l...

Re: Question about boxes in each guide............

Christy, You can complete the boxes in any order! That is one of the "beauties" of HOD. I personally go in order, left page top to bottom, then right page top to bottom. But that is just me! I know some moms do math first, others do reading first and still others start with Bible study. As you get m...

Re: list of supplies?

My3sons, Your story is funny! I remember spending HOURS on end trying to prepare a lesson plan that was Bible based with all the bases covered for KINDERGARTEN. My husband was quite unhappy about it :x But now since I brag about how easy HOD is he cannot understand why I am at the computer at every ...

Re: Getting organized.........legal question

Hi Christy! I also live in Texas and you do not need to join either one! You can homeschool without it. BUT if you want to support either one and be aware of the laws, be informed, etc. etc., then you could do research on each and join which ever you prefer. Texas is one of those "blessed" places to...

Geography in HOD

Thanks Carrie and Julie for incorporating Geography in such a gentle interesting way (Beyond). My son LOVES geography and anything that has to do with maps and I see that he is going to really enjoy Bigger! By the way, he thoroughly enjoyed The Santa Fe and Oregon trail - since he studies maps SO MU...

Re: Does the workbox system....

To those of you who have been doing Workboxes more than 3 days... I am just wondering if the HOD "atmosphere" of relaxed no pressure learning with my parents  - is being lost, and a more workbook environment is created :( I have completed TWO days of Workboxes and my son was not happy plus he ...
