Re: Transitioning from Worktexts to HOD (High School)

Thank you both for giving me something to think about! My oldest daughter should do fine with the high school guides, and now I'm thinking about doing MTMM with my younger daughter. She is the one who lacks the most enthusiasm with schoolwork. However, the long school day might be somewhat of an adj...

Transitioning from Worktexts to HOD (High School)

Good afternoon! I've been using HOD with my 4 young boys, and we're loving it! I wish I had used HOD with my daughters, but unfortunately, I've been boring them over the past 10 years with worktexts, workbooks, and traditional "school at home" methods. Now that I'm done with having babies, toddlers,...

Re: Older Mommy Brain

Thanks for all of the suggestions on supplements...I think I will try to add some to my diet and see if that helps. This is a good year to turn 40! May God bless you all for your encouragement! I really appreciate it! :D

Re: Older Mommy Brain

Thanks so much, everyone! You are all very inspiring...maybe I can pull this off! At this point in my homeschooling, I'm finding that my twin 4-year-olds are my biggest challenge. They seem to really need a lot of energy, enthusiasm, and activity to keep them interested in learning. I'm so tired som...

Re: Older Mommy Brain

Thanks for the encouragement! I know you're right. I'm just worried that they will start asking questions that I won't be able to answer. I can see myself saying "Let's Google that!" waaaay too often. I'm thankful for the Internet, but I wish my brain would have retained more of what I used to know....

Older Mommy Brain

I'll be 40 in just a couple of months, and I have four boys ages 4-8 (the 4-year-olds are twins). I've been using the lower-level HOD guides, which are great. However, I'm wondering if I'll be able to teach HOD to my boys when they are older and learning about things that I just can't remember anymo...

Re: Average Mom

Thanks, everyone, for your helpful comments and suggestions! I have more confidence now. I know that God wants us to do this, and He will empower us to be able to do it. I just hope I'm able to keep up with the work involved...I don't know if I mentioned it, but I'll be teaching 4 boys who are very ...

Re: Average Mom

Yes, I would have to say that math is the one subject that I'm scared of the most. However, my hubby is a math guy, and he said he'll help the kiddos with that subject. Whew! :D

Re: Average Mom

That's good to know. I forgot that they will get more independent as they get older. I think I can handle the younger guides. I would like to learn with them! :D

Average Mom

Hello everyone, I'm wondering if this curriculum is easy to teach for an average mom like myself. I don't have a college degree. Actually, I just have an A.A. from a community college, and I went to a public high school in Texas. I haven't read the classics, and I'm just learning about living books ...

Placement Question

My twins will be almost 4.5 when we begin school in September. They already know their colors, shapes, numbers, most of the alphabet, etc. They listen well to stories, and can usually give correct answers after listening to a reading. Their fine motor skills are about average, I suppose (for boys!) ...
