Re: Microphysci kit in World geography
Laura O, According to the MicroPhySci website there are enough supplies to do the experiments 5 times. From my experience you can repeat the experiments but not at the same time. In our co op we needed multiple sets even though we only had 5 students. Hope that answers your question. I see you are i...

Re: Standardized Testing
Tara, I live in MN and have had my kiddos do their state required standardized testing since homeschooling my oldest in 2000. I've used the CAT and the CAT survey (which is shorter with only 20 questions per section vs 50 questions). In the younger grades, and especially for the first time, I prefer...

Re: Aspergers, IEP's, and HOD-- requesting advice please =)
I've been in your shoes. We entered the school systems special education department. In order to qualify for services my daughter was labeled to receive services. We had her privately evaluated by a team of 5 professionals and received a different diagnosis. The diagnosis was a medical vs educationa...

As a follow up to this post. My Mother in Law, kiddos Grandma, passed away August 22. Having this book was timely. She will no longer be able to share more memories. But what she did share was memorable. Thank you HOD for the opportunity this book opened up.

DITHOR and HOD are truly the best
I just wanted to share that HOD and DITHOR are truly the best. My daughter just had her 5th speech evaluation. Each time it is for a different need. Lately she has been having trouble with word retrieval/stuttering. The speech therapist described what I would need to do. I said that sounds exactly l...

Re: Sneak Peek #6: New US2 History Guide
Carrie, Thank you for thinking outside the box for science. My science loving son said this looked like fun. We are very science minded here. I may even get to all the rock collection kits i have acquired through the years. You mentioned the possibility of doing 2 sciences for their senior year. I m...

BJU Lit CD
Good evening,
I am getting ready for our WG year, and I am trying to figure out how BJU is used. Is the CD in BJU Lit used?
Thank you for forging a path.

Re: What credits to include with WG?
Would Logics course be better in WH guide if I do Biology and Health in WG guide? I don't want to schedule too much in a year.

Re: What credits to include with WG?
I am still wondering what to include with 9th grade. After looking over the health plans I wonder if my son has enough skills in writing to complete the 3-5 paragraph essays that are required on some tests. I assume that they get paragraph writing instruction in Essentials in Writing. Since he hasn'...

Caranne,
If you can, savor the guide you are in. Discussions are rich when you are not plowing through to get through. They are definitely exponentially more difficult each guide.

Shadow of His Hand
How do I read this book through the tears? The only question I am having my son answer is, "What is something this book has made you thankful for in your own life?" My Mother in Law, a Lithuania, lived in a refuge camp in Germany during WW2. She was sponsored by a Lutheran Church family in Minnesota...

Preparing is so much fun!
My daughter is loving everything in Preparing. She likes to add to each project by making more projects. Today she made 4 constellations on aluminum foil so that she can shine them on her wall tonight. Thank you Carrie for knowing just what a 4th grade girl would love to do for school.

Just wanted to share that my homebody daughter is now in Japan. I am glad that she wanted to stay home, and that we did during a season. She is now in Japan teaching English to elementary to high school students. Growing up she preferred to stay home. She was not deprived or held back. Take the time...
