Re: quick grammar question
We did not begin R&S until my oldest was in 5th grade. Since he had not done any diagraming prior to that I decided to start him in level 3. We ended up doing 2 lessons some days and skipping some that he already knew.....and beginning level 4 toward the end of his 5th grade year. I would recommend ...

Re: Does others work thru the summer...trying to get caught up?
We school year round. Partly to catch up and partly to just keep some sense of order. This also allows us to take time off as needed/wanted and still complete our school work.

Schedule for RTR?
Anyone else have a schedule going for RTR ? We are just starting and this is the program that seems to be giving the most fits. I need to schedule him and my Preparing and Beyond children...along with the toddler and infant...... I did look at the 'schedules' thread and have copied the sched...

Re: Help with Placement Issues
My son, when he was 5, was not ready for the Reddy Fox, etc. books that LHFHG uses. Every child is different as you know, and for him we had to set it aside. We continued to work with RME, sporadically due to life issues, and when he was about 6.5 picked up Reddy Fox again....he absolutely LOVED it ...

My ds13 LOVES the Diana Waring audios...and is so glad to be back to them with RTR. I never knew how much he enjoyed them until today when he mentioned how interesting she is. Happy that your daughter has finally found something that engages her.

Re: I keep checking my front step....
Oh, everything looks sooooo gooooood! I had my ds start today, left side only, to begin training him to use the guide independently. Once he has everything down and is doing it well, he will work on both pages each day. His math takes up a good bit of time (Saxon) but I know he's looking forward to ...

Re: If I tweak RTR for high school how do you grade things?
Sorry...I just noticed your question about testing. I didn't answer that! I am not sure, since my ds is just in 7th grade. We don't test right now except in math. Hopefully others will be able to answer that question for you.

If you look here: http://www.heartofdakota.com/scope.php you will be able to see that HOD has a new guide coming out in the fall...it's the exploration one. They will be calling it Rev. to Rev. here on the boards. If they follow the same guidelines as with the others, and I think they are planning t...

Re: OT-Vacations
We've never stayed off-site...just at the resorts or we drove the 1.5 hour to and from the day we went. It is very convenient to be able to use the bus/monorail, etc. And I was really just kidding about it being more fun without the kids. You just have to plan more, of course, if you are going with ...

Re: OT-Vacations
Well......my husband and I have always joked that Disney World is NOT "the happiest place on earth" as touted. We always had way more fun when we went without our children. However, I really think it depends on several things to make it "worth it" or not. It is expensive and I would suggest t...

Re: several levels at once?
Knowing myself I would probably slack and not give her anything extra. Well, not really not give her *anything*. But not give her what she should have. If that makes any sense what-so-ever. That is what I have found to be true for me. When we have combined in the past my oldest 'suffered' (he would...

Re: OT: Advice/prayer/encouragement desperately needed!
I'm praying for you too Sue. He will carry you when you cannot go on and He will bring you strength. Lean on God now and cry out to Him. He hears you! I am so sorry that you are going through this. I have not experienced the exact same things but I know it has got to be heart-wrenching. I'm so glad ...
