Re: What guides are you doing?

I have a 4th, a 5th and a special needs 8th grader doing CTC. I've got two 8th graders doing Rev to Rev and a high schooler doing MTMM. My 8th graders are doing Rev to Rev on the high school level in case they decide to use that as their first year. We love it all! :D :D

Re: As we move into high school, the design of the guides...

Another thing I am weighing is whether it is wise to keep any graphics for the boxes in the high school editions (like the corner graphics on the boxes, the stars by the resources used, the coding for Independent, Semi-Independent, and Teacher Directed). :D This is another topic on which I'd love t...

Re: As we move into high school, the design of the guides...

As we move into writing formal high school level guides, I have been endlessly pondering what format the guide should take at this level. :D After exploring options for almost 6 months now, I had pretty much decided to continue on with the format in which the guides are currently written for many r...

Re: Written narration adaptation due to short term memory is

Water2wine, Thanks for your input. He does/has used the strategy of reading just a page or 2 and then orally narrating to me or doing part of his written narration and then reading the rest and finishing the narration up. The only problem with this with the written narration is the narrations tend ...

Re: Written narration adaptation due to short term memory is

I have a child with short term memory issues and I have had to modify some things for her as well. :D Honestly what has worked for her is to add more CM type stuff but I think sometimes with a kid that has these issues you just have to do what works and finding that is half the battle. What you are ...

Re: Using CTC with 4 students?

I have had four using one guidebook before. We just had to share. They kept it in a neutral place where they all could see it for the stuff the history projects etc., like a table where all could look a the same time. Then they took turns with things like dictation and just worked on differen...

Re: Many kids to teach = Many guides??? Please help!

I won't be used to this. I will have 5 guides out to teach from: LHTH, LHFHG, beyond, bigger and CTC. Am I crazy? Has anyone done this before? i've used 3 of those before so I'm not completely new  It seemd like a lot! I also have six kids fairly close in age like you have. Mine are a little ...

Re: How do you keep track of your more independent students?

I meet with them at the end of the day and they have to show me all their work for HOD. They also narrate to me their independent reading. They use the guidebook as their list of what to do. I do make a spread sheet for anything that is not HOD. It doesn't take long to do the checking of their work,...
