Hi! My 8-year old ds is currently in Bigger and doing great with it. I'm wondering if the dictation might be too easy for him though..... so far he hasn't made a single mistake (we're in unit 3). Do you think he should move up a level?

What if you had both of your dc do Little Hearts, except that you have your 7.5 year old do the right side of the Beyond manual? That way you're keeping them together for history and bible, but they each have their own "Learning the Basics" page. Not sure if that really helps, but it's just a though...

Hi all! I was wondering at what age do you let your children read silently to themselves vs. reading aloud to you? My 3rd-grader has been asking to do his readings on his own and I'm tempted to let him. I'm all about independence, lol.

We're also doing about 2/3 orally and 1/3 written. It's working well! I would definitely encourage you to let your daughter do some of the lessons orally if you think all the writing is too burdensome for her.

I've been wondering this same thing. My son did 2A and 2B when he was 7 for 2nd grade and he did fine with it, but it did seem advanced. I so agree, we LOVED Beyond too! I used it this last school year with my oldest son and I can't wait to do it again with my youngest!
