Re: What To Do Between Emerging Readers and DITHOR

Just a question for those responding..... Wy do you slow down the ER? We are doing The ER set now with Beyond with my oldest who will be 7 in May. I hadn't thought of slowing him down. I just assumed he would go into DITHOR when we start Bigger next year. Is this not a good idea? I just thought tha...

Re: What To Do Between Emerging Readers and DITHOR

I think you have several options. Are you adding in the supplemental reader each week? You can probably find them at your library and that would double the time it takes to get through the emerging readers. You could also have her move on to the level 2 DITHOR books and just not have her do DITHOR w...

Re: Resources for Beyond

You got good responses already, just wanted to add that you will be able to do the science activities without the book. The book just adds an extra connection, but the activities themselves are in the Beyond guide so that should be covered.

Re: LHFHG with Older Child & 2nd Thoughts on Placement

There are many that have done LHFHG with children that age and it has been fine. If you think he needs more, there are several suggested books for each week in the back of the LHFHG guide. They are not required, but my son loved to read them. For the first few weeks, the books are more religious bec...

Re: for the love of a two year old

You have gotten some great suggestions! I know there was a post a while back where Julie shared some of the activities she rotated her youngest through when he was still too young for school. It had great ideas in it. I'll see if I can find it or maybe Julie will pop in and update! Edited to add: th...

Re: preparing reading packages

I have not done preparing yet, but my understanding is that basic package is necessary for the core of the program. The deluxe package is scheduled in the guide and is designed for the student to do independently. If you are trying to cut costs, I think you could get by with just the basic package, ...

Re: Fantastic Day!

Glad you had a great day! Getting up early is something I really need to work on. My son is an early riser, but I have never been a morning person. I am a night owl and have my most productive times late at night. That worked great when I was younger, but is not really workable for homeschooling :)

Re: Sneak Peek #1: New World History Guide

Yay! I'm so excited to get a sneak peek!! I know I have many years to go before I get to this guide, but I feel so much peace in knowing that our course is set and I won't have to stress about homeschooling the high school years. Thank you Carrie for all the hard work you put into each and every one...
