Re: church history in RevtoRev
There is some in Rev to Rev, mostly in the one book "Hearts and Hands" I think and then a little in some of the other books. The main church history year in the non-high school guides was in RTR though.

Re: College- If you've been there w/ your kids
My dd will graduate from college in May. She was homeschooled for 10, 11 and 12th grade, but not with HOD since high school guides weren't out then. I use homeschool tracker and that did my transcript for me. My ds will be a senior next year and I may use a transcript service with him, but not sure ...

Re: Advice/Encouragement - Afraid I won't like teaching CTC
I remember thinking the same thing, that I wouldn't like CTC because I don't like ancient history. It turned out I actually like it quite a bit and learned a lot. I read all the books during the summer before he read them. I learned how biblical history was so interconnected with what I thought of a...

Re: New Diagnosis: Learning Disability
My son has some of the same issues. He has dysgraphia, slower processing speed, working memory issues and can sometimes struggle with reading comprehension depending on how much he knows about the subject he is reading about. We have used HOD since Preparing and he is in the high school American His...

Re: Question re: researching "Probe" in Con Lit (US History
My son was having a similar struggle. He just couldn't find the information needed easily. I tried to help him early on, but I also had a lot of trouble finding information to answer the question, especially from more conservative websites. He got where he was not getting what I wanted him to out of...

Re: Prayer request and question
Thanks for the prayers. We tried to do just a little bit of school each day this week, but his headache would increase at times so we are back to brain rest and he has a neurologist appointment next week. It is pretty stressful for me to fall so far behind in the guide (just finished week 21), but g...

Re: Prayer request and question
Thanks Carrie that is very helpful information about mathhelp.com. He is really liking it. We are seeing the lessons get a bit longer already. I haven't been making him do the worksheets, but if he struggles I may change that. I am taking problems from the worksheets and making them into a test just...

Re: Prayer request and question
Thanks everyone, I really appreciate the prayers. I think I will sit down this weekend and figure out where 75% of the Chemistry would be. I think taking a break from that might be the smart thing to do. As far as the math, he is doing mathhelp.com college algebra and the lessons are really short. H...

Prayer request and question
This has been our most challenging homeschool year for various reasons, but the newest one has me a bit more stressed. My ds received a concussion last week from of all things hitting his head on his head board during his sleep. We ended up taking several days off school to try and rest his brain. Y...

Re: written narr. with dyslexia/dysgraphia
Is he able to type at all? I would definitely work on that. Like I said there are apps or software that have intelligent spelling correction and advanced word prediction. I know one is Co:Writer, but I know there are others. Also you could move to something that is a voice recognition like Dragon na...

Re: written narr. with dyslexia/dysgraphia
My son only has dysgraphia, but he has always typed his narrations instead of writing them. He has some short term memory issues also so he has done things such as taking short notes while reading or underlining key things he wants to remember. I know there are some software programs or apps that ar...

Re: Question about Economics in AH2
Thanks Carrie that helps a lot!! I actually want him to do both Personal Finance and Economics even though our state only requires 1/2 credit that includes both topics. I'm just thinking through a few things due to having to possibly switch up science to fit his future career path and I have to add ...

Re: Switching to HOD fully? Dropping Classical Conversations
In Preparing is where the writing instruction starts to really take shape. The start written narrations, which have been a huge tool in helping my soon formulate his thoughts on paper. They start with short narrations and a lot of guidance. In each guide that follows the narrations get longer and th...
