THANK YOU!!! Overseas Shipping

Just writing to say we received our box on Thursday, having ordered it a week before. Just one week to get from the US to Australia!!! How good is that?

Thanks for great service!

By the way, the books are living up to my expectation!

Re: Singapore Math textbooks

Thank you everyone for your replies! They have been so helpful in clarifying thoughts I had about Singapore Math. It makes a lot of sense the way in which SM has been incorporated into the program - very mama friendly and child friendly! I think I will switch my oldest boy into Singapore 2A when he ...

Re: Singapore Math textbooks

When you're doing the alternate math schedule in Beyond and LHFHG you need the text books because you don't have Carries awesome activities and lessons for you to do. But if you buy the next guide higher then you have the hands on activities and no longer need the text book for the explanations. Cl...

Singapore Math textbooks

I will be starting LHFHG with my two sons ages nearly 7 and nearly 6, but we will be doing the basics component of Beyond alongside. For math so far we have been using Abeka Arithmetic 1 which I have been happy with overall. I am however thinking of using Singapore Math with my older boy because, un...

Re: Any Orthodox, Catholics or non-Protestants using HOD?

Hi, While we're many years off using RTR (my guys are still little), as a Catholic (and a convert), I'm already giving this matter considerable thought when it comes to choosing home-schooling curriculum. I absolutely love the layout and Charlotte Mason feel of HoD and plan to use it to organise my ...

Re: I know it's been posted, but what order do you do the boxes?

I've enjoyed this post and, having four boys myself, totally identify! What is it about Heart of Dakota's boxes? :D I see a schedule in grid format and I freak out. But those boxes... Aah! What a relief! :D Annette I'm right there with you! :D I adore the box layout. Makes it so clear and easy in m...

Re: what would be better?

Whoa! That is fast! I'm so glad you and your little boy are enjoying it all. It is certainly something to think about. Are you still doing Beyond for Basics or are you doing your own thing there? Yes, it is fast. It only works because my ds is advanced and I know my purpose is just to give ...

Re: what would be better?

Just out of interest, what is your 'fast speed mini-version'? It had crossed my mind to try something similar. Basically, I have been doing one unit every two days. Each day, we complete 2-3 days of the "Reading through History" block and 2-3 days of the "Storytime" block. I also read the Bible ver...

Re: what would be better?

Hi Annette! :D I wanted to pop in and welcome you to HOD, too! It sounds like you've got your placement figured out for your boys. I had one other idea that you could toss around... You could dive into Beyond and LHTH now and use them 4 days per week. This will extend the programs by 9 weeks (and w...

Re: what would be better?

I can reassure you that every single one of the reading suggestions I've used from HoD has been spot on and loved by both ds and me. We have yet to find one objectionable book. As far as placement, I can share what we're doing, just in case it might be helpful. According to the placement charts, my...

Re: what would be better?

I would go with Beyond, LHTH this year and then next year you could start off each of them half speed in their curriculum Bigger and LHFHG... that way it would take a little longer to get through the curriculum and put them near the middle/upper of the age range for the guides. Then you'd always be...

Aussies doing Beyond?

Hi, I'm new here and am thinking of Beyond for my two boys ages nearly 7 and nearly 6. Is there anyone in Australia doing Heart of Dakota, and specifically Beyond? How do your children like the history?

Re: what would be better?

I would say to go ahead with Beyond for your older two now if that is where they place. You won't find anything here that is questionable or inappropriate for their age and they both will be in the age range for Beyond come September. Carrie is very good about choosing books that are at the right m...

Re: what would be better?

Based on their ages, I was saying start now with Little Hearts, but I am not an expert on placement. What did the placement chart say? I am waiting to start HOD until January because we have some remediating/catching up to do and because of finances. As far as skills are concerned, both olde...
