Re: Older Kids
Hi there!! welcome to the boards and the the HOD "family" :-) I have 6 boys-ages 14 (five weeks from 15) 13, 10, 8, 5, and 2. We do Bigger with the extensions for #2 and 3, and Bigger for the emerging reader for #4, Little Hearts for #5, and Little Hands to Heaven for #6. #1 uses Drawn into the hear...

Re: An Extraordinary Gift
I completely agree! :D I am in shock that I am so SATISFIED with everything HOD has to offer! My dc are too. We are learning & enjoying each other as we go about our day with HOD. My box checking tendencies are satisfied to boot! I have NO desire to look anywhere else for our curriculum. Tha...

Re: Question about DITHOR
I would start with the 2/3 book, and use the quesitons as discussion versus writing. You could always have him type his answers in word document for some of the questions if you need to have some sort of written work. The workbooks/levels in DITHOR are SO easy to adjust to your child's needs. You ca...

Re: DITHOR for a ninth grader
My 9th grader BEGGED me to let him continue with DITHOR this year! :-) He's used since he was in...3rd grade? OR 2nd? So he's very familiar with it; he's done all the workbooks, but he still wanted to use it! Now there's a testament to the program, eh? lol! He's using the 6/7/8 book, and we chose bo...

Re: question about cursive
Bigger includes cursive practice with "Cheerful Cursive" (which is a great cursive program, imo) or the itlaic book of cursive. My 10 yr old uses cheerful cursive, but my 8 yr old doesn't. He's not ready for cursive, so we use italics (but a different book then scheduled) because that's what works f...

Re: DITHOR Question
you aren't required to read ahead or with your child. A lot of the books I've already read; so I am passingly familiar with them anyway. But like M2M said, if you use any that Carrie suggests, you will be very safe!

Re: storytime with children of different ages
I vote for the option that makes less work for mom!
I like keeping my boys as together as possible with the activities they share. So I would pick one activity (maybe one of your other guides has an activity that would work better then the one in Beyond!) and do that for everyone.

Re: Grammar options with Beyond??
Hi Tammy! You may just want to start with the grammar lesson scheduled in the Beyond guide (it's every 5th. day). We found that to be a great start for our dc - even though my oldest could have done R & S 2, he was on the young side of Beyond and we decided to wait. I am glad we did because I think...

Re: Drawn Help Needed!
I hate to read a thread and not post, So I'm going to ditto what response you've already gotten! :-) We've used DITHOR for a long time, and we've generally done the five days a week thing and used books that generally match the history/literature we are studying. Although if the boys ask for a certa...
