Re: number lines in kindergarten b math

So here's what we did today that worked: I got out the tape measure and a cheerio. We worked through the problems in the workbook by bouncing the cheerio up and down the tape measure. I told her this was a different way than crossing off and she totally clicked with it today! Yay! I told her it was ...

Re: number lines in kindergarten b math

Thank you! I think the issue comes with when she crosses off the numbers on the number line, the answer is always the next one down. However when counting backwards on the number line, the answer is the one you land on. So knowing the difference between when it is the number she lands on and when it...

number lines in kindergarten b math

Hello... Simple question here! My daughter is in Singapore Kindergarten B math. So far it has been great. She is doing well and comprehending everything and always looks forward to math. (My oldest son is in singapore 1b and has always struggled.) Anyways, we hit a small bump with adding and subtrac...

Re: Singapore Math and finishing guide

Gigi.... I identify so much with what you wrote! My oldest son and I have struggled with SIngapore 1a/1b this year. Especially with addition and subtraction! Rarely have we had days where I felt like math clicked for him. We started with RightStart math his first grade year and struggled through tha...

Re: spelling

Thank you, MelinKansas!

I will start the spelling lists with him today and we will work into the copywork. I would say he still needs to work on his stamina in that dept!

Thank you!!

spelling

Hello! I am hoping to get some advice about starting spelling with my almost 8yo son. I am taking him and my 6yo daughter through LHFHG this year. He is technically 2nd grade and she is Kindergarten. The guide is working great for us, we are just starting unit 22. (a leeeetil behind... ) He h...

Re: Charlotte Mason and spelling

I was able to find a few other posts about spelling/dictation that were helpful. I would like to know how the schedule for the spelling lists flow into dictation later. For instance, do children need to do both list 1 and list 2 before moving on to dictation? When does dictation start? My son (will ...

Charlotte Mason and spelling

Hello ladies... I can't find my specific question addressed after looking through the forum for over an hour, so please forgive me if this question has been asked many times before... I have been reading up on the Charlotte Mason philosophy of spelling and it seems that she did not advocate learning...

Re: Singapore Lingo

Super great thread! We are just starting 1B and dealing with the lingo issue. I will be trying the "donut" thingy too! I also wanted to add, after really struggling through addition/subtraction in 1A with my ds (7yo) this school year, he completed the final review almost completely by himself. I was...

Wow! Thank you for this! I will be rereading this many times to establish some new and fun routines for my two year old! What a very nice reply! We're off to try high chair time while I make dinner!

Re: Uncombining (How and When)

I have wrestled with that question too. I am in a similar situation. I chose to combine my 5yo daughter and 7yo son in LHFHG this year. My reasons for doing that were: 1) My son was borderline between Beyond and LHFHG, but I felt that the extra year of establishing the basics and letting school be f...

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss! As my own dad struggles with intense pain on a daily basis, I understand the double-sided grief/joy that comes when a believer goes to be with Jesus. Praying for you today!

Re: Supplementing Singapore

Update: We (my ds 7 and I) went back and did all the hands of activities for 1a that I thought would help and we recently caught back up to where we left off. It was definitely good to go back through them again. We just finished the activity where I say a number between 10-20 and he has to write do...

Re: for the love of a two year old

Thank you for the links! I never thought of getting him his own scissors! He does want so badly to do big kid things. I guess I will so look for that at the store. I am making a list of other great ideas from you all, thank you!
