Re: French
Some on this board recommended Living Language foreign language courses since my son needs German for high school. I ordered it on Amazon for an extremely reasonable price and I really like the looks of the program so far. They have many languages to choose from, including French. Might be worth che...

Re: WG Science Question
Thanks for the input, ladies! I think I am going to have him do the labs, since I believe he will enjoy them, and maybe cut out a few of the Living Library books. It's great to have your helpful opinions!

Re: Grading in the World Geography Guide. . . .
Carrie, I appreciate your response. It does help me in thinking through this. I do not have any desire to micro-manage grades or keep track of every little thing. It makes me nauseated just to think of it! My concern is with my own subjectivity. I want to be fair and give an accurate grade -...

WG Science Question
How necessary do you think the Science labs are in the WG Guide if you have a child who could possibly be a STEM major? I'm debating right now over having my son do the labs next year. I do think he will do labs for the following 3 years of high school sciences. But I'm wondering how necessary it is...

Re: Grading in the World Geography Guide. . . .
Debra and Lynn have voiced my concern as well. I'd love to hear Carrie's answer to that. If I don't give actual grades for the narrations and notebook pages, journal entries, reviews, etc., and just count them as completed, then that would equal an A. Like I said, with my oldest, she is an A student...

Re: Science Dilemma
Thanks for these ideas. It helps to hear some reassurance from others that what we are doing is okay and will work out. And also others' experiences who have taken the road less traveled. :) I like the idea of doing Biology 101 for college credit. Out of all the sciences, Biology is definitely the m...

Science Dilemma
You gals always have so many good ideas - so I thought I would run this by you and ask for some advice. I think I have messed up my oldest daughter's science path and I need to fix it. Here is what it looks right now: 9th grade - Rev2Rev Science package with lab kit - Physical Science credit (in my ...

Loving the WH Lit Books!
I am pre-reading all of the Literature books for the upcoming World History guide. (I was able to purchase the package at the convention so I could have a head start.) I am truly enjoying it! Carrie always finds gems that I've never heard of - such as Pearl Maiden. Couldn't put that one down! Even t...

Re: Just finished reading all the World Religions books
Lynn, I loved those books, too! I would even use the word "life-changing" for that course of study. Each one had something unique to offer and will be favorites around here for a long time. I can't wait for my twins to use them next year, too!

Re: Grading in the World Geography Guide. . . .
I enjoyed reading this thread. My oldest just finished the WG guide. She is basically a straight A kind of student, so grading is fairly simple with her. I LOVE the course descriptions that Carrie included. I just copied those right into the ongoing list of course descriptions that I'm keeping in he...

Re: Lit time in World Geography guide-Julie or others
Hi, Lynn, My dd is finishing up the WG guide now. The Lit is a longer portion of the day many days, but she is a fast reader and writer, so I hesitate to do any comparison with how long it will take your son. I do think you'll need to do some tweaking for him. You are so good in making things work f...

Friendship Wanted!
My oldest daughter (16 and finishing her sophomore year) would really like to develop some relationships with others who are being homeschooled in high school. Most of our family and friends who started out homeschooling have gone into various schooling options for high school. She has been feeling ...

Re: Wants His Own Thing..
We are one of the few I've heard that did end up separating into two different guides. Here is why: We started Bigger Hearts using extensions with my oldest in 5th grade and my twins in 3rd grade. We continued each year up until this past year with remaining combined. Looking back, I would have sepa...

Re: Question about Writing and Lit in the WH guide
This is incredibly helpful, Carrie! It gives me peace of mind as I think through my dd's last two years of high school. Since she is my oldest, I am always concerned that I will miss something important and look back wondering why I didn't catch it! Thank you for taking the time to be so thorough in...
