Re: 2 digit horizontal addition Singapore Math question

Julie and Lora Beth... I am wondering about this too. We are working through 1A right now and we stopped the singapore math text to learn and practice the addition fact families via Math U See before proceeding with the singapore 1A text into subtraction. I am not sure if he needs to have those fact...

Re: advice needed for how to "catch up" a five day unit plan

Thank you ladies! Just the advice I needed! I quit trying to "catch us up" to a unit all in one week, and am now just doing one day at a time no matter what day of the week it falls on. You're right, the kids don't seem to notice or care if the unit fits nicely in a week. I feel at ease...(c:

Re: So thankful to have found HOD

Just wanted to pipe in my agreements with having found HOD this year! It is such a pleasure! My 7yo son and 5yo daughter are both doing LHFHG this year together. I was just telling my hubby last night how much easier is it to do school this year. Having the fun projects already planned out for me an...

advice needed for how to "catch up" a five day unit plan

Hello! We have just started our first year of HOD. I have two kids going thru LHFHG with some Beyond supplements for my older child. We are loving it so far! My question is for you veterans. LHFHG is a five day unit plan. So far no problems there. I anticipate in the future, with a "sick" day or a f...

Re: Please tell me this will get better?

mom23... Yikes! I'm sorry that it has started out so poorly for you. No fun to feel defeated at the get-go. I am not an expert by any means, but a few things came to mind that have helped me as I have dealt with my stragglers in different areas of life. 1. Teach them responsibility by letting go of ...

Just started this week...

I just wanted to pop in quick to say thank you to Carrie for designing such a fun curriculum! We have started this week with my 7yo son and 5yo daughter and are loving it so far! We start at 8:30 and have been done anywhere from 10 to 11 in the morning. (I have to do two separate reading and math se...

Re: Math facts and Singapore

Good to know! We are using Singapore and MUS this year. I know they are different but I hope they will complement one another and be a good mental switch up for when the lessons get tricky. MUS starts with place value to he hundreds and he is already having a bit of difficulties with it. He is doing...

Re: Math facts and Singapore

Thank you, Stephanie! That is helpful. I can tend to discourage him and myself by expecting too much--errors of a newbie. I will hopefully be more experienced and knowledgeable as my other two come through the ranks! It is hard to know what is important to emphasize when I am not super familiar with...

Math facts and Singapore

Hi there! Sorry to post about math again, but I have a question about Singapore that I can't find the answer to. I recently started early bird and primary 1a with my two kids and they are Loving it which is a huge relief from our experience with a different program last year. I am loving how easy an...

Re: Would switching math programs set us back?

This is an interesting thread to me because I haven't been able to make up my mind between MUS and Singapore so we are doing both (half time) next year! We tried Rightstart last year for my son's 1st grade year. We stuck with it until April when I realized how stressful Math was and how he wasn't le...

Re: Handwriting HELP!

Hi! We are making a transition in our handwriting this year too. We have used HWT for my 1st grade son, but I would like to make a switch before we get to cursive. I looked seriously at the Italic, but then discovered the D'Nealian style. It is simple one stroke letters like Italic and HWT, but make...

Yes! I am wondering too. I spoke with someone at the HOD office and he mentioned that Carrie was rewriting it.
