Re: Homeschooling Only One
I'm committed to this. My HOD guide should be on the way. Today I had a bad experience, though. DD's teacher sent some work home because she is missing some school for trips we're taking. DD became upset because I asked her to do something a little different than 'how her teacher does it'. It will b...

Which Singapore Level With MUS Primer
I saw the post about the Earlybird Singapore. My daughter started MUS Primer before I put her in school for K. When I homeschool in the fall, I thought I would use some of the MUS Primer that I feel she still needs, and also thought about doing like some others and use Singapore along with it. Then ...

History From HOD Guides Before BLHFHG
I did it! I ordered Beyond. Anxious to see it. I feel I got the right level for dd, but was looking at the resources for LHFHG. I was thinking about the history, since that is what HOD is based on. DD has had lessons on creation and bits and pieces of other events in history. I'm not sure what she i...

Re: A child with processing issues
Thanks for the replies. It sounds like Tansy is dealing with a lot more than I am. One thing she said that I've taken to heart are some words from Carrie that 'less done well is more'. Although Angie is very bright, she is overwhelmed and frustrated if given too much to think about at once. That's w...

Re: Copywork Question
Thanks for all the suggestions. Thanks for the pictures, Julie. Angelina wants to write big and spread her letters far apart, so that gives some ideas for writing in Beyond. Until she is no longer in school, I can only ask the O.T. to work on her lower case letters. Because she is doing that work at...

Re: Copywork Question
DD is right handed and I believe she does well holding the pencil for the most part. The O.T. was doing Handwriting Without Tears with her. Capitals are done in boxes. She didn't really get into the lower case because dd went to school. When she went to school and had to write on lines, the O.T. was...

Copywork Question
One more question. When doing copywork, do any of you have your children use writing tablets, or do you use notebook paper. My dd has a struggle with handwriting. When she was making valentines for her friends at school, I was concerned by what I saw in her writing skills. Her teacher feels she is d...

Re: Homeschooling Only One
Thanks for all the helpful replies. I have some time to plan my weeks, but I'm determined to make sure Angelina's days are filled with enjoyment, whether in work or play. It's going to mean more of my personal time, but it's worth it.

Re: Homeschooling Only One
Annaz, Thanks! When I tried K with dd, she just would not respond to me as her 'teacher'. She still has security issues stemming from her past. We didn't adopt her until she was 3yo. She will be 7 in May. She enjoys school because she has made friends, but at the same time she shows disappointment t...

Homeschooling Only One
I'm new and I know this is my 3rd post within 24 hours. I appreciate the responses to my questions. Hopefully this is my last for a while. I was just wondering if there is anyone homeschooling just one child with HOD. Our 3 biological children are adults. We have an adopted 6yo dd. I plan to use Bey...

TRL vs. Scaredy Cat Reading System
My daughter will be homeschooling in the fall after attending an ACE school for K. I haven't ordered BLHFHG yet, but I believe this will be an excellent program for her. She is beginning to read one vowel words and I am sure by the end of K she will be reading more. Since seeing the sample lessons o...

A child with processing issues
Hi, I am posting my reply to my welcome. I was directed to share it in a separate post. Thanks! I just randomly came across your curriculum online. We have 3 grown children who graduated from homeschooling and now have an adopted dd, almost 7 yo. I began homeschooling with K last year. We didn't rea...

Welcome! PLEASE READ
Thanks! I just randomly came across your curriculum online. We have 3 grown children who graduated from homeschooling and now have an adopted dd, almost 7 yo. I began homeschooling with K last year. We didn't really cover all the material because she just wasn't ready to grasp some of it. Beginning ...
