Re: World History Plans
MJ, that was so helpful. Thank you! The lost is found! I still can't find the notification in my email unless I put Heart of Dakota in my search engine. If I just scroll down, it is not there. Since I hadn't found an email, I hadn't searched diligently for the plans. After locating it, the notificat...

Re: Pre-reading books
I do preread my children's books. I find it hard to teach without doing so; that is why I combine my children. It is not required with HOD to preread, but skimming is encouraged from what I have read. Yes, it is hard to find time to preread! Thankfully, the books are great! I think you will get answ...

World History Plans----update----located
I went back and counted, and I think in a previous post it was stated that the next two weeks were being shipped on Oct. 7th. Is that correct? If so, I have not received any notification like I did last time. Did I get missed accidently? Is there a different plan that I missed? I didn't want to wait...

Re: Feeling out of my depth should I go to online school
Having graduated 2 now, I think the reality is that many children are going to need more help in math and science at the high school level. I think that is equally true even if you are using something online. My oldest two used a different math, but I can let you know what helped us. I watched the v...

Re: Attempting 6 Guides This Year
How did it go today? I do hope you are not still going until 7. I don't think that will be sustainable for you. We moms still need time for exercise, meals, our husband, our quiet time, our friends, our parents.....

Re: Skipping english 3?
In my opinion, you can definitely skip level 3. You can find online samples and see if level 4 or level 5 would be a good fit. I don't think you would want to jump in above level 5.

Re: NEED help: Placement and financial issues/questions?
I would combine them in Preparing (extensions for the older) and use a different science for you older (There is no Apologia science in this level.) Preparing is a fun-filled year!

Re: Attempting 6 Guides This Year
Preparing for the school year is so beneficial. You look very organized. 6 guides is a lot. Is there a reason you separated your 7th and 8th grade boys. I think they could both use RTR to pair down on guides. Would that be benficial? The 6th grader is within the age range to share Preparing with the...

Re: a Zippy 7 yr old girl
I think BIgger sounds perfect. I also really like paring down on teacher's manuals. HOD's book selections are so engaging AND informative. My 7 year old is zippy too (8 in Nov.). We used Abeka phonics for first grade, and I am looking forward to starting the emerging readers this week. Explode the C...
