Re: Need your help. HS'ing w/2 kids in intensive therapies

Well, I've reread your post and what others have had to say. You've gotten some great words from these ladies! I definitely agree with what was said about getting your children's therapy scheduled all on the same day. It's great that you are working with an office that will work so well with you on ...

Re: Need your help. HS'ing w/2 kids in intensive therapies

I want to start off by telling you that it is A-ok that you do not know what to do right now. This all hit you TODAY! :) You haven't even had time to stop and think through your options yet. Also, you will know what to do because the Lord is going to show you. He gave you these kids. He gave them-- ...

Re: Horrible handwriting and dictation

I know this isn't my thread or about my son's problems, but thanks, Carrie!

You know, I think I may just try your suggestions while we "figure out" if my son has a learning disability. It may very well be that he just has bad habits ingrained at this point.....

Thanks for this! :)

Re: Using only the History in RTR?

I have not read through this thread thoroughly, so sorry if what I have to say is a repeat, etc. Let me tell you this.....the way HOD's CtC covers this time period is completely different from Mystery of History. If your children place in CtC, then I would go for it. Again, HOD is totally different ...

Re: Horrible handwriting and dictation

Good Morning! What you are describing sounds EXACTLY like my nine year old son. His writing has improved in legibility, but all of the aspects you describe are just like him! I have no advice for you because all of my efforts to correct his problems are just not working. We are actually starting the...

Really love Write With the Best and.....

.....the scheduled language arts for CtC! Write With the Best is amazing!! I was so apprehensive about teaching writing. WWTB takes me through the process step by step! Also, using it has made me realize how much I actually remember from when I was in high school, so I have had a lot of fun teaching...

Re: Question about 3 of the CtC history interest set books!

Thanks for the feedback, ladies!

I'm really going to look forward to reading these here at our house.

What our children read is so important, and I love how I can trust each book choice that Carrie has made. :)

Re: Question about LHFHG

Hello, Karla! To answer one of your questions...no, it is not hard to do more than one curriculum guide. Scheduling is really the key to using multiple guides within your family. We are doing 3 here at our house! I just started LHFHG with my 5 year old and it is just great. Like the previous poster ...

Re: Transitioning from Bigger to Preparing

Hello! I don't know if I can list all of the pros and cons, but here is my opinion.....:) I think when you start back in the fall you should just pick up right where you left off with Bigger. Don't think of it as being "behind". As far as moving through each guide and from one guide to the next....I...

Re: Exploring Homeschooling as an option for our family

Hello, welcome to HOD! We love HOD! When your children are in the proper guide, it is really easy to do 2 to 3 guides at once. LHFHG is a wonderful little program that is so easy to implement no matter what other guides you are using. I just started my 5yo. in LHFHG and I just break it up and do the...

Re: Trying to decide

Hello, and welcome!! :) From what you have said, I think Beyond would be a much better fit for him. It is just the perfect program for a 2nd grade boy!--Especially if reading and writing aren't his "favorite" thing to do right now! The main books used in Beyond are so intriguing even for a busy boy ...

Question about 3 of the CtC history interest set books!

For those of you who have read The Golden Bull, Boy of the Pyramids, and Jashub's Journal, tell me how much you (and your children) enjoyed these books!! They seem like great read aloud choices. Tell me why you enjoyed them!!

Thanks!! :)

Re: Thinking of using HOD curric's instead of MFW

Here is what I have to offer on this matter....hope it helps a little! :) We used much of ECC. Here are some of the reasons that HOD is a better fit for us than MFW..... --HOD truly includes ALL subjects/lessons into their guide. For example, I don't have to schedule in the recommended Language Arts...

Having a great time with LHFHG-encouragemtent for newbies!

I began Little Hearts with my 5year old son about one week ago. I was watchful of him as we began, and ready to put the program aside for awhile and wait until he's older if needed. I haven't had to do that at all! It has been a great experience! I was so worried about it being too much given his ag...

Re: Alternate Storytime books for LHFHG?

My vote is on Beatrix Potter as well! Her stories are a mainstay in our house. If you want to do Beatrix Potter all the way through Little Hearts with her, I would recommend obtaining an unabridged copy of her complete works. I went ahead a few years ago and invested in a beautiful hardback complete...
