Re: Math question Beyond/Bigger
What about if spending the extra money isn't an option?? Does anyone have suggestions of activities to use for certain concepts that we might NEED activities at this age. She should be fine for most of 2A, but I know towards the end of 2A and into 2B, activities would be great.

Math question Beyond/Bigger
I'm using Beyond with Singapore Math 2A/B instead of 1A/B. I see there is a schedule for using 2A/B in place of 1A/B, but what about the activities? I saw on the online samples that there are different math 2 activities in Bigger. What do I do now for activities in Beyond? When we get to Bigger, we'...

There are samples for each level of both the A and B texts and workbooks at http://www.singaporemath.com. You can also see a complete table of contents and placement tests there.

Re: Anyone NOT use Rod & Staff English? plus a Spelling Question
Now I'm just plain confused about what to do! I'll have to wait until the books come in so I could look at the list in Beyond. The program we are using, "All About Spelling", is going so well. But, I've not had a chance yet to see if its pouring over into her spelling in other subjects. She enjoys i...

Re: Crazy excited!
ROFL about the masking tape. :D So, no certain binders with labled tabs, etc?? I am beyond excited! I didn't think I would even get to start HOD this year, but God made a way! I am so thrilled and so are my kids. DD was excited to see the first weeks plans online and commented "now this is more like...

Re: Anyone NOT use Rod & Staff English? plus a Spelling Question
Thanks Carrie, That really helped clarify. We already did R&S 2 in 1st grade and really enjoyed it, and part of 3 this past July. That was too much for my 7yo of course! When we started MFW, PLL was recommended so we went with that. But, it wasn't enough for my dd, so I had hoped QLL would be more.....

Re: Anyone NOT use Rod & Staff English? plus a Spelling Question
Great, I feel better about using Queens now.
Should I consider adding a writing program since Queens doesn't cover that like R&S does?
I was thinking Writing Strands 3 starting in 4th grade. Any other programs that work well with Queens and is quick and easy to implement?

Anyone NOT use Rod & Staff English? plus a Spelling Question
I would like to use one of the alternate grammar options on the HOD site...Queens Langauge Lessons. With the copywork and dictation in Queens combined with that of HOD, is it too much? Should I expect to skip some of the copy work in one or the other? Are there alternate plans for Queens or only for...

Re: Phonics Program? What do you use?
We are enjoying Phonics Pathways and Reading Pathways from dorbooks.com I really like the method they use with having kids NOT read word families like -at, cat, hat, mat, bat where they can get away with rhyming and not really read (that is what my son was doing!)...PP uses a word list such as bat, b...

Re: Placement help with 3 kids
Ummm...let me see...it's late here so let me see if I can translate my own "talking outloud"... I was wondering is my youngest (2yo) tagged along with brother (4yo) this year half pace in LHFHG, then next year (3&5) finished LHFHG. Then the next year (4&6) would I just start 4yo at the beginning wit...

Re: Nature Study
We are doing nature studies right now. After a couple formal nature walks, my dc made every outing, every visit to gr'ma and gr'pa's house, every walk through the grass to get mail,... a nature walk. Their curiousity and attention to nature skyrocketed. I ask them questions about their finds...Why d...

Re: Placement help with 3 kids
Thanks so much to all of you! Okay, so here's my thoughts after reading what you all have to say. My questions above pertained to next school when my kids are 8,5,3. This year they are still 7,4,2. Option 1 : I was thinking I could continue MFW ECC with 7yo, and maybe start LHFHG half pace for 4 yr ...

Placement help with 3 kids
I'm using MFW ECC (Year 1 of 5 yr cycle) with my 2 oldest. I was trying to be economical and get something I know I'd use again which I why I put my 2nd grader and 4yo in ECC. I find ECC to be going well, but my youngest is being a little neglected. It doesn't suit him. So, he mostly plays with 2yo ...
