Re: left side of Beyond? Right side of Bigger?
This year my oldest (1st grade) is doing the left side of LHFHG and the right side of Beyond. (At least most of the right side of Beyond.) This allows us to keep my two oldest (K & 1st) together for some of their subjects and simplifies school for us. So this year, ds#2 is doing straight LHFHG as wr...

Re: Poetry copywork in Beyond and Bigger
One more question pjdobro. What about dictation passages? We did the 2nd spelling list this year (1st grade). That means 2nd grade, we will do dictation, cursive, r&s2 from Bigger. So for 3rd grade I would just do Bigger, but for LA I would be done with cheerful cursive, move to r&s3, and then do wh...

Re: Poetry copywork in Beyond and Bigger
Although I'm enjoying the left side / right side thing, there are a few details to work out. I have a 1st grader using LHFHG and Beyond (while his younger brother uses straight LHFHG). I like the pp's suggestions for Bible verses or nursery rhymes. Maybe something fun? I don't know if this will help...

Re: Poetry Copywork: Nice paper to motivate?
We are doing LHFHG and weekly, with storytime, the kids are supposed to help write a sentence. I bought a composition book (they have them with the handwriting lines for young elementary with the blank at the top) at Walmart. Each week, we get out our composition book to write the few sentences ("Re...

Easy Question on DITHOR Book List
What is the book list? I see that books are sold in sets for each of the different grade levels. Does the book list give more suggestions?
Thanks.
Thanks.

From 1.5 to 1 guide...
My ds7.25 (1st grade) is currently doing Beyond right side with LHFHG left side. I also have a Kindergartner (ds5.75) who is doing both sides of LHFHG. Next year we will be doing Beyond plus some Bigger. How do I get on track to have my kids in the same guide and use the extensions for my older ds (...

Re: HOD IS COMING TO FLORIDA!!!!
That would be so neat to meet other HOD'ers in Orlando! I'm coming over Friday morning and staying until Saturday around 5ish. Please keep me in the loop if you decide to get some folks together Friday or Saturday! Hopefully I'll be able to make it. (Still working out the babysitting details for the...

Convention
Quick question: What resources are typically brought to convention? I'm thinking about what I want to buy for next year. I have a few of the Beyond books (including the manual). Will they only be sold in sets at convention? Can we buy individual books (like Morning Bells)? Will you have the "boy int...

I have 4 boys so it encourages me that Carrie has boys too. They love it and I am comforted that she has already paved the way.

Re: Do you rip out the workbook pages?
We rip out the handwriting pages from A Reason For Handwriting so that they can write as nicely as possible. I don't rip out the Fine Motor Skills pages, they are not that difficult to write in. Carrie skips the handwriting portions (in K) so it's just circle or draw a line or cut and paste. Hope th...

Re: HOD IS COMING TO FLORIDA!!!!
Yay! That's so great! We went to the FPEA convention last year but I wasn't so sure I would need to go again (since I found HOD and don't plan on changing). Now, I definitely have to go back...to meet you. Looking forward to seeing you! Yay!

Re: Emerging Readers & ds6.75
Thanks for the additional replies! Well, we decided to jump ahead...by one book, LOL! We left out the second Frog and Toad because we had already read that one and they are really easy for him. Today we started with Wagon Wheels. I feel like this is a good fit (as he had to slow down a little and wo...
