Re: 4 day school week
Meredith, I just wanted to pop in and say that I have been trying to work out the same thing. We prefer the four day week as well for the same reasons. I had never thought to add more to each day in order to make it work to four day. I am obviously not the creative type! Anyway, I just wanted...

Re: 4 day vs 5 day and proper placement for my dd
I just wanted to say thank you so much for your thoughts both Kathleen and Patty. Patty, I had my 11yo join us today w the rhymes and it worked out a lot better. My 11 yo has such a great attitude and I think that is such a wonderful idea! God has been pressing on me to do a mini together time once ...

4 day vs 5 day and proper placement for my dd
How do you work the 4 day week out when you are working with your younger chldren 5 days? I want to encourage my preparing child to work hard so he can have that day off, but my LHFHG student (who already fights me to do school each day) would be so jealous. Otherwise, even if my preparing student w...

Re: Starting HOD tomorrow!
Nancy, I just wanted to pop in and let you know I was prompted to pray for you even before I clicked on the link and saw you will be doing four guides! I am so glad that this first day went well for you. I will continue to pray for your family. Although we have three children, I have several friends...

Re: Beefing up bigger?
Oh! I just found a sticky that talks about beefing up younger grades.
If you have btdt and want to share your experience, I would take that though.

Beefing up bigger?
Is it possible to beef up Bigger for a 12 -year-old? We are currently doing preparing now. We really love it! He is 11 now and he is placed perfectly in preparing. I know it would be weird to go back a year, but he hasnt had very much american history at all. We have been in the old testament almost...

No sounding out...she is reading veru fluently! I hadnt really thought about how it all works through the years until you posted. This eases...

Re: Valentine's Day fun - Why do you "heart" Heart of Dakota?
Oops! I pressed submit on accident! I'm not done marveling over to the greatness of his curriculum...lol! Where I was going is that it is so important to meet each child individually where they're at. Something I didn't quite see before. My main goal was for us all to be on the same page. I was tryi...

Re: Valentine's Day fun - Why do you "heart" Heart of Dakota?
I know, I know! Valentine's Day is over! But we are still in the month that we celebrate Valentine's Day.... I been thinking about this post. And for some strange reason, I have been trying to figure out what I DON'T like about Heart of Dakota. I think because it seems to good to be true! This is to...

Re: How much to "push" with LHTH?
I'm just thinking that it's good from the start to establish that you decide when school will be done, instead of the child deciding when (and when not to) take part in things. I'm not sure, but I think this would be hard to undo if ds gets it in his little head he gets to decide if he'll do school...

Re: How much to "push" with LHTH?
Hi there, I just wanted to chime in and say I am with you on this question. I have gone from one extreme to another and now I'm full circle again. For my oldest I really pushed him and I thought that challenging children where they were at is the best thing to do. And then came my daughter, who at 2...

Re: spiral or no spiral?
Thank you guys for your thoughts. You all are right. It's brand-new, So it just needed some breaking in. That is awesome that it has the good binding to lay flat. I do find it a little bulky when I'm holding it in my arm. But it sounds like everyone is a vote for no spiral. Now that I can get it to ...
