Glad you've come to a good decision on grammar. :) You can't go wrong with R&S as it's solid and has everything you need. Hope you have a great year!! ;)

Re: Teacher's Book for WG BJU Literature?

I've used this course with great success in the World Geography guide, and found the teachers manuals to be extremely helpful in teaching, explaining concepts, and discussing answers to the exercises in the book. There's a lot included in the teachers manuals, and while we didn't need *all* the info...

Help with The Elements Book in MTMM....

I bought my MTMM guide about a year and a half ago, but couldn't get the science package at the time. For my next child in line, I definitely wanted to utilize the lovely science plans for this guide, so I recently purchased the needed books and resources. I noticed the Ellen Mchenry book, The Eleme...

Re: Plan for highschool?

If RTR is where he places, then it's going to be the best place to start. :) As Stephanie mentioned there's plenty of ways to beef - up future guides to be high school credit-worthy. I'll add that since he's in 8th grade, you can always re-assess things at years end, and see where he places at that ...

Re: Struggling checking their work...suggestions?

Wow, all of this speaks to me hugely! This fall we will be starting HOD for the first time and using Bigger, LHFHG and LHTH (LHTH will be used only like 2x per week, depending on how it goes). Though I will be working out of the guides primarily, I have been contemplating how to keep it all straigh...

I understand where you're coming from, as I've been in your place not that long ago. ;) I want to encourage you that it can be done, and done well. :) Try not to worry over what may come down the road, but try to focus on this next year and what will be the most successful. Oh, what a blessing to read this morning!! I'm so glad his love of learning is growing. We've experienced similar "Aha!" moments here, too. I've been using HOD for nearly 7 years, and we are totally loving this curriculum so much. Quality Christ centered, God honoring resources, fun engagi...

Re: hobgoblins?

It's been a while, but if I remember correctly, Granny was sharing about her past, giving a glimpse into her culture & traditions. We discussed it, and talked about things that are real and true in light of God's word. This is not something promoted in HOD, you have no worries. Heart of Dakota is ve...
