Re: cursive dilemma
IDK. I think her cursive looks great, especially for her age. Have you asked her about it? I wasn't taught italic (I don't think), but my natural handwriting is similar (not all letters connecting). Perhaps print a page of more traditional cursive and let her see what she thinks. I would have her co...

Re: Bigger 4 days a week?
We do 4 days most weeks because our Thursdays are so full with other activities (I had planned for our light day to be Friday, but it hasn't worked out that way.). I just don't turn the page until we're finished. That means Monday isn't always day 1, and that's ok. We'll continue with Bigger in the ...

I agree, it sounds like they'll do fine in Bigger.8arrows wrote:You are fine! The extensions are for 10 and 11 year olds (and only if they need them). I think you will have a great year and Rod and Staff three will work well.
You shouldn't have any need to repeat a guide.

Re: Help me figure out an English path for my ds
Leave it as it is. Finishing by end of 8th is not critical. Just keep moving through. I agree. Our oldest came home after 6th, he finished R&S 8 as an 11th grader. He had really struggled with english after coming out of public school. After three years of R&S he rocked his LA on the ACT. I'd just ...

You can start anywhere. However, we loved reading through the Bible. The Frog and Toad books are quick and fun.

Re: To switch...or not to switch...that is the question...
We switched mid-year 1st grade. I'm soooo glad we did.
I'd pour over the placement chart and place your child in whichever level she fits. You could do Preparing and start CTC when finished or use CTC and stretch it if you find the need. Whatever works for you.

Re: Teaching a Left-Handed Child to Write
One of the best things I did re: my ds's handwriting was look at other kids' his age and even older. It helped me see how well he was actually writing for his age.

Great idea!
I have ours color coded by guide. Future years are stored in a tote, current year on a spare shelf. I need to do that Excel thing!

Re: Teaching a Left-Handed Child to Write
If they raise the left side of the paper it should allow for a more natural (similar to a rightie) angle for writing. Their grip should be similar as well.

Re: OT- Bedtime Routine HELP
I think you have a great routine up to the point they get into bed. For us, into bed means lights off, go to sleep or at least stay quiet and in bed. No reading, no talking, and certainly no electronics (other than a quiet Seeds worship CD in the background). If you want to give them a chance to qui...

I can't help with LHTH, but I wouldn't move a not yet 5 y/o to LHFHG.
