Re: Please help me with placement: Bigger or Preparing?
Hi Amy. I'm sure there are more experienced moms out there who will chime in and help you. :) I have used some of Bigger and am now using Preparing with my 3rd and 4th grade boys. The 3rd grader has some learning challenges so Preparing is a little much for him, but he loves it, so we adjust the wri...

Re: Where should my friend move to?
I 4th Texas! I have lived in Texas for years and love it. We are currently living in the Houston area and there is so much for homeschoolers..... Classes,
co-ops, support groups, activities, and field trips. And the laws are very homeschool friendly.

Re: Is it okay to do R&S English 2 with a 3rd grader?
Thank you everyone! I feel much better now. I'm going to go back to R&S 2. I seem to remember Carrie saying that R&S was advanced and to use a grade level behind, but I wasn't certain.

Is it okay to do R&S English 2 with a 3rd grader?
After a few weeks of trying different thingsearly in the school year, I finally put both my boys in R&S English. It has been a good fit for my oldest son (4th grade) using the level 4 book, but my youngest son just doesn't seem to "get" diagramming. He is a very typical wiggly boy and seems to be ab...

Re: Give your opinion on developing Bible quiet time habit
Carrie, I love the idea of using The Family Illustrated Bible (especially for those visual kids as MamaMary pointed out). I think it would be nice to have reading straight from their own Bible an option too. I find that both my boys still do better with an illustrated Bible. They can find their "rea...

Re: Preparing...Arctic tundra
Oh, that is a great idea! I have the Planet Earth dvd's.....I'll get them out tomorrow and have my boys watch the arctic tundra. We finished the book today, so it will be a good way to wrap it up. Thanks for the suggestion.

Preparing Testimony
It has been a while since I last posted. After weeks of agonizing over what to use this fall ( piecing my own thing together, which level of HOD, should I used different levels or combine kids, formal grammar or not, the list goes on....) I am happy to say that we just finished week 3 of Preparing a...

Re: The Reading Lesson....
Hi Leanna. We had a similar situation with my little girl last year. She was 4 1/2 and had known all the letters and sounds for some time, but couldn't blend. I put our phonics program away for a couple weeks and just let her play. Then we tried The Reading Lesson, (after finding HOD), and it clicke...
