Re: I may have to change my screen name...

Lourdes, I just wanted to encourage you. I had a very similar set of circumstances - 3 normal deliveries and then #4 decided to come feet first, so we had to do a c-section. A little over a year after that I also had a miscarriage. Then, a year or so after my miscarriage I got pregnant, had a great ...

That is awesome news! Thanks for sharing your praise with us. I know it encourages all of us walking through these times of uncertainty to see God work things out for you.

Re: Guilt over not spending enough time with little ones!

I agree with the above posters who suggested you have the older children play with your younger. That is the only way we could have made it through this school year. My 2 yo dd could not be left alone for 5 minutes. :D I would have gotten very little schooling done when she was up, and since we were...

Re: Prayer Request...

Leanna, We are going through a similar thing with my husband's employment. We, however, know that he will be working until June 30th. The Lord has already opened up the door for a part time business that my husband has started working on this past week, but there are still so many unknowns (for me)....

Re: preparing a good fit for my 4th grader

Have you looked at the placement guide to see where your son falls on that? That's a good place to start. I have an 8 year old ds who sounds a lot like your 9 yo ds. I think that HOD has a lot to offer our wiggly little boys that other more wookbooky, textbooky programs don't. I did Abeka video scho...

Re: Creation to Christ ???Time for teacher-directed activities?

I spend about an hour most days. Between storytime (20 min), Bible Study (20 min), AAS (All About Spelling) or Writing & Dictation (20 min), I estimate an hour each day. I continue to do storytime for each guide. Although I know that you could just choose one guide and do storytime from that guide, ...

Re: One more ?? Juggling 3 kids schedule

Playschool, You just described what the first half of my year was like trying to combine my 8, 10 and 11 year olds in Bigger. My 10 and 11 year olds were really not challenged enough, and my 8 year old let them answer the questions, felt inferior because their notebook pages, drawings, etc., were be...

The co op you described sounds really wonderful, and I think it's nice to have one day where you can get out and be with other adults.

Re: Bigger & R&S

My son is also 8 and we are just finishing up Bigger. I have done almost all of the R&S English orally. If I am going to have him do some writing, it is usually on our dry erase board. This has been great for him, as too much writing in a day overwhelms him. R&S really lends itself well to being don...

Re: How do you manage 2 programs at once?

Sue, It really is quite doable. :D I know it sounds scary, but you'd be surprised what a little planning and scheduling can do for you. Speaking of scheduling, if you look at some past posts, you can see some examples of schedules that others have put together that allow them to do 2, 3, even 4 prog...

My new one just came today, too. I am so glad because since I gave my last, dog-eared one away, I kept going to reach for my catalog and remembering that I didn't have one. Looking forward to sitting down to peruse this new one. :D

Re: Repeating Astronomy?

Carrie,

Thanks for coming back to clarify that. That helps me settle in to repeating Apologia's Astronomy. We really enjoy these books, but I wanted to make sure that they would be "enough" for an 11 and 12 yo.
