Re: Science question

Was your daughter a freshman this year? If so, I would just do the WG next year, If you are wanting to do the Biology, you could go ahead and buy the WH guide. HOD will still let you get the package price for WH the next year minus the guide price. Another option would be to do the new World History...

Re: Wants His Own Thing..

What about keeping them in the same guide but they work completely independently? Buy them their own books. Do they do everything together right now? ______ Now, that's an idea! This is somewhat what it looks like at my house (except I was too cheap to buy duplicates of everything). We also do histo...

Re: Wants His Own Thing..

Mothermayi, in answer to your question, I have three that are just finishing MTMM--6th, 7th, and 10th (12, 13, and just 16). They have been combined for many years, beefing the guides up for the eldest. They were in 2nd, 3rd, and 6th when they did Preparing, which just happens to be my favorite guid...

Re: Wants His Own Thing..

Mothermayi, I understand wanting to separate the boys, but in your previous posts, you have indicated that the older boy was very well placed in CTC. I would strongly encourage not to switch someone who is well-placed. If you really need to separate, I would slow down the second son. Moving a child ...

Re: Still praying for next years cirriculum

It is OK just to hold on. I have lost two as well. It is hard to think about anything else for a while, and of course, you always remember. I might not make a decision right now. Although it may be a good decision, I would wait just a bit.

Re: Pull son from HOD for next year?

I always love to read updates, and I am glad your move went so well. ______________ All reading is read aloud by me. He does all the note booking assignments in the beautiful pages provided through HOD on his own. As we progress, my hope is to allow him to do one "I" box reading on his own. ________...

Re: WG: Too many books, not enough writing? Carrie?

I have 2 graduates so far. It is never too late, and I think many of us have learned that lesson. I have said many times that the biggest lie I heard in homeschooling has been that your high schoolers would be doing high school completely by themselves. HOD has a much more realistic version of indep...

Re: WG: Too many books, not enough writing? Carrie?

I am NOT a CC fan, and I AM an HOD fan, so I have stated my bias up front. There is a LOT of writing in the HOD guides. It is just scattered throughout the boxes, which means it is scattered throughout the subjects instead of just quarantined to one subject. Although the 5 paragraph essay is hailed ...

We will have the books there for the new guide to view, including all of the various packages. We also have the new guide's section of the catalog with book descriptions and package pricing done for you to take a brochure with that information home with you. :D __________ Oh, I want to live near a c...

Re: Please help...advice needed!

Summer break is coming soon, and you have 18 more weeks to complete in CTC. A lot can change, maturity-wise, in that amount of time. My first advice would be to stay put; the second option, in my opinion, would be option 1.

Re: Please help me not go insane!!! :)

I vote for Preparing too. If the child places in two guides, it is better to go down. I would not try 5 days a week with your schedule. You want to have a successful year. Sometimes we can sabotage our year by trying to do too much!

Re: Wants His Own Thing..

My reasons for combining are very similar to those listed above. There is only one me. I know I simply can't handle too many guides with all the other logistics of running a large household. I simply reiterate this to the kids. They know mom can only do so much. Over all, the kids really enjoy cover...
