Re: Guilt about using HOD and not planning my own

Don't feel guilty, just thankful! If you have already used HOD 6 years, you know it is preparing your children beautifully. MJ's post was perfect. I have often had to quit even looking at other boards. There are two in particular that just drain me of all love and enthusiasm for teaching. I don't be...

Re: Grading in the World Geography Guide. . . .

Teascript is what we used for both of our graduates. They both already hold an associates, and one is working on his BS. All the colleges thought it was fine. One even complimented me on it.

I don't have any advice, but I just wanted to say thank you for caring for her and pouring into her life. I am sure some of the other ladies will have words of wisdom.

Re: High school history problem?

I had thought about trying to beef up MtMM for my oldest - using BJU United States History (2nd half of text) and the MtMM extensions for history. I would keep the English and literature from the World History Guide. Then my plan would be to move him in to the 3rd high school guide - Early American ...

Re: Why and How Long?

We have used HOD for 5-6 years. I started out with Abeka and then used Sonlight. When my son asked why we were reading a book I had to use so much white out in, I looked elsewhere. Then we switched to MFW, which is a really nice, Biblical program. However, HOD is even more my style. I switched becau...

Re: Trying to decide if I should separate my kids this year

Has it been going well? If so, I would not change a thing. If the younger one finishes early, there are always community college classes. I successfully combined three of mine throughout. Your scenario: 6th and 8th REV2REV 7th and 9th MTMM (beefed up for high school for oldest--There are several pos...

Re: Placement for 6th and 8th

It sounds like it would work. CTC is less reading if you think the reading will be an issue in RTR. As far as the science, that is really a personal call. HOD science is complete. It sometimes looks deceivingly simple, when there really is a lot of meat! It is definitely a different flavor than Apol...

You should turn that into HSLDA for their magazine. Too cute! :)

Re: Guidance in simplifying

The EE science would not be hard to figure out how to schedule on your own. I would say it is one of the easiest things in any of the guides to schedule on your own. If he really wants to do that science it would not be a problem to do it with the other guide.

Re: Revival to Revolution and high school...

Look up at the sneak peeks at the top of this board. You will be able to see the books and choices for the world history and the world geography guides. The worldview credit is in the world geography guide.

Re: Revival to Revolution and high school...

Are you counting what you did this year as a world history credit? If so, I would do the geography guide. Carrie is putting out a guide each year, so you will have your bases covered. I believe the next two are the first half of American history and government and then the 2nd half and economics. Yo...

Re: Math help-What after TT Algebra 1?

We did Alg. 1, Alg. 2, and then geometry. In your case, I might stick with the same publisher for Alg. 1 and 2. It would be no big deal to switch for geometry. However, you should know that we did use TT, so I could be biased. Carrie did not have the guides out when my older boys were in high school.
