Re: Phonics Instruction

Rice, I think Sound Bytes is a great choice in your situation. I would pause the Emerging Reader's Set and just work through Sound Bytes for now. It may take a couple of months or could go more quickly. It isn't uncommon to need a bridge between Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons and our E...

Re: Phonics Instruction

Hello Susan, If your kiddos have completed Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons, and you don't feel your kiddos are ready for the Emerging Reader's Set, I would recommend Sound Bytes for your pair next. If, however, you haven't finished Teach Your Child to Read..., or you did finish and feel...

Re: Update and a question

Hello Jenn! I am so glad that you are getting a chance to talk through options for your busy family! Some great suggestions are already being shared. :D In looking at your line-up of kiddos, I had a few thoughts that may be worth pondering. First of all, I am not sure how your oldest does with schoo...

Re: Grading Dictation in High School

Hey Susan! Great question! First of all, just to encourage you I will let you know that studied dictation is a slow burn. :D It takes time to really reach its full impact. Kiddos who are naturally good spellers just visualize the correct spelling. They can tell if a word "looks right" and will excel...

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter to all of you wonderful ladies on the board! Christ is risen! :D :D We awoke to a white world and many inches of snow this morning. What a surprise. That is just South Dakota weather. Hope all of you had a good Easter. :D

Blessings,

Re: Placement Chart Questions?

Thanks so much for popping back to share a bit more of your thoughts as you place each of your kiddos. 8) I can feel a really good plan coming together. It does sound like your 13 year old daughter will be well placed in Revival to Revolution and that you 14-year-old son will do well in MTMM. We usu...

Re: How are you all doing?

That is good you were able to get your visit in to California! I am glad that schooling with HOD is helping to keep your routine a bit more normal. Re: Placement Chart Questions?

Thanks so much for sharing a bit more about your kiddos! Based on what you've shared, I think your 14 year old could probably handle MTMM, however if you desired to keep your 13 and 14 year old together (and they work well together), you could do Revival to Revolution with both of them instead. :D T...

Re: Combining 12 and 14 yo

Hello! We're glad to have you here! :D I agree that it would help if you could look mainly at the first page of the placement chart linked here: https://www.heartofdakota.com/placing-your-child.php That would help us know better where your kiddos might fit in HOD. Placement is quite dependent on rea...

Re: New Edition and Notebooking Pages for Preparing?

Hello! As we are still knee-deep in the entire website redesign, the Preparing Hearts pages are on track for a summer release. We are looking at late July - early August right now. The website redesign has been so much more massive than we thought, as the entire thing has had to be redone including ...
