Re: a level between little hands and little hearts
I am not sure how much those little ones remember....but you could just re-do LHTH again.

Re: We're back
Sounds like a good plan for your oldest one. :) I would check the placement chart though just to be sure which one he best fits in. Things always work best when you put them were they fit. :) For your younger two, I would recommend checking to see if they can handle CTC (check that placement guide)....

Re: LHFHG & Beyond Placement Help!
Oh, BTW, my older son is 10 and starting preparing this year so he is also on the older end....but is the perfect level for him (he also has learning issues). He started Bigger at age 9 1/2 and loved it....again it was the perfect level for him, right where he was at. It is OK to be at the older end...

Re: LHFHG & Beyond Placement Help!
I would add in more math....we did not do the math in the guide but had our own (1st grade). My son was first grade but we used the K science book (so your choice) no need to add science or switch books. The history books are the same for both grades. As for the workbooks, I am not sure what they us...

Re: LHFHG & Beyond Placement Help!
I suggest on taking 18 months or so to do LHFHG (with 4 days a week) and then move to Beyond in the middle of the school year (Beyond has much more that you read to him). Take it slow if needed. He will take awhile with his auditory issue. My daughter (who is now 15) had a very hard time with the au...

Re: Which subjects are covered in LHFHG and Bigger?
A day at a glance is just what the guide does for you (everything on the 2 pages is what you do in a day)....If I need to see what is going on each week, I just read over the plans for a week. If you want to make yourself a planner, you can use the same 'subject' that the boxes have. LHFHG has 9 box...

Re: Which subjects are covered in LHFHG and Bigger?
For LHFHG there is not really any work that you need to put in a binder....we had one this year but never used it. For Bigger....we have 2 binders, one for Science notebooking and Lab pages. Binder 2 has History notebooking, vocab pages (if you use notecards as suggested in the guide you will not ne...

Summer schooling?
We will be continuing our studies though the summer and I plan to switch my boys over to the next level in the fall (they are both ready even though they have not completed the guides). I know I will be able to finish LHFHG with my 8 year old this summer as we can double up on the reading as he can ...

Re: Placement Help - Bigger
Looks like Bigger would be a great choice for him. My older son is finishing up Bigger this summer (he turned 10 in Jan) and he is looking forward to doing things more independently. He also has a rough time with grammar so we did level 2 this year and most of it orally (they suggest doing 2/3rds of...

Re: A Reason for Handwriting Question
One of the days they practice writing the verse on regular lined paper (so a notebook would work just fine as would loose leaf paper). My kids have a notebook that they write it in.

Re: Sample schedule for teaching LHTH, LHFHG, and BLHFHG?
I do not really have a schedule and work with which ever of my kids is ready the earliest. Most of the time I start out and finish up LHFHG (the older 2 work on individual stuff) and then alternate the other 2 depending on the day. Some days they need more help than other days. My Bigger boy does mo...

Re: A Reason for Handwriting Question
You do not need the teacher's manual. It is very simple. :) There are 3 days of practice, 1 day of writing the verse on notebook paper and the final day is writing it on a page with a picture to color (in the back of the book). Even though Beyond/Preparing do not use this, I will continue using it w...

NY's age cut-off is Dec 1 (not Sept like many other states).
