Questioning separate guides too (but didn't want to hi-jack
the other thread. Hmmm. I have been pondering this as well for many weeks. I LOVE HOD and all of the books, the plans, the Christ-centered-ness. I would be very sad to give that up. There are other curricula we've used and loved too, but nothing was quite as complete as HOD. And my kids adore it...m...

Re: Seriously considering adding a guide for next year. . .
I was supposed to be doing three guides. There are several who do it and do it well. Sadly, I was unable to stay consistent with it and dropped the one for my youngest for a while. :? I am just now thinking of picking back up with him, but I'm not sure quite how I want to do it. Anyway, if you can c...

Re: What to do with a toddler??
I'm going to be watching this thread closely and going back to the other links here so I can get more ideas. I have a two-year-old as well as an infant, so in a few more months we will have two running around here while we are doing school work. I just want to chime in here that I have been ...

Re: Question for those with dc on the upper end of age range
Thanks, Julie. I was asking because I am trying to decide if I should order DITHOR. He is currently doing the extension readings, though I have waited until today to tell him to begin the follow-ups, starting Monday. It is not too much for him. He loves to read and really is enjoying ALL of the book...

Re: Living in the Past or Present?
I just wanted to specifically address this portion of your post: I am a person that did not learn to cook and clean from my mother. So I just sort of get by in the household duties.(I purchased Pearables Lessons in Responsibilities for Little Girls(for 6 yo) - which is basically housekeeping - and I...

Question for those with dc on the upper end of age range
Both of my older children are in the upper age range. DS is 13 using RTR meaning he will start Rev to Rev at 13 (the upper age) but turn 14 half-way through the year. Same for dd. She will begin CTC in the fall at age 11, but turns 12 in January. My question is, do you use the extensions for your dc...

Re: CARRIE IS DOING HIGH SCHOOL!!!!
Wow, I'm so excited! My oldest two will miss out on some of them still, but my others will be able to follow all the way through. So awesome!

Re: Extensions for modern times and geography guides?
My 'plans' always seem to go awry, but if I can manage to stick to this one, my oldest will need the extensions to continue in HOD. He has one more year of middle school and then we're in High School, so I've been thinking of this lately. He really loves all the books he gets to read with HOD so I'd...

Re: Question about Extensions for Bigger next year
We have had the same issue, and I have explained it the same way.....as you get older the workload gets heavier, more entailed, that's just the way it is. We always say, "If you want to be in 2nd grade (or whatever the younger one is in) then I guess I can give you 2nd grade work". That usually gets...

Extensions for modern times and geography guides?
I'm just wondering if the last two (planned) guides will have extensions. Will it be ext. for ages 15-16 for modern times and ext. for ages 16-17 for the Geography guide?

Just wondering when the week-at-a-glance and introduction will be available on the site? We won't need this until around Christmas but I'm still anxious to see the layout....

Re: Question about Rod and Staff 2 for ds9/handwriting problems
You can do most, if not ALL, of it orally. In level 2 I don't think many, if any, paragraphs/sentences are asked to be written so you could do a lot out loud. This makes the lessons quicker and means less writing for the child. HTH
